Stinging heart

He seemed to feel the movement of the child in his belly. There was a smile on his handsome face and he raised his voice. ”He seems to be moving!”

He looked like a child at that moment, and I couldn’t help laughing, ”Okay fine! I want to get up!”

While he was in high spirits, he propped me up, leaned me against the head of the bed and motioned me to lie down. Half-tilting his head, he pressed his ear against my belly.

For a while, he smiled with the corners of his mouth, looked at me and said, ”Do you feel bad whenever he moves?”

I supported his forehead and was left a little speechless by his question. Sure enough, men’s intelligence about pregnancy could be really lacking.

”If you’re really curious, you can read books about pregnancy, and maybe you can learn something about what I’m going through.” I got up propped up and we got ready to get out of bed.

He hugged me from behind and said, ”Let’s lie down a little longer!”

I raised my hand to push him, lowered my eyes and fell on his arm. I could not help wringing my eyebrow. There were some scars on his arm and I could see that they were basically scratched. The wounds have fallen off but the scars were still visibly red.

Seeing that, my body turned stiff. He noticed my eyes and withdrew his hand for a moment. He suddenly asked, ”What do you want to eat later?”

I couldn’t answer him. Then came a long silence.

As if worrying about what I was thinking, he sat next to me, took my hand, touched it carefully, and looked at me intimately. It seemed like he wanted to tell me all about it, but it was a long story.

”Was it to protect Nicole?” It may be too straightforward to ask, but I really couldn’t think of anything else to ask.

Once I finally noticed what was wrong with him, he looked slightly upset. I withdrew my hand and sighed slightly. ”I’m going to take a shower!”

No answer might be the best answer. Compared to hearing him tell me that all the injuries on his body were related to Nicole, I would rather know nothing.

I think I’d rather be a fool. When it came to being hurt, it was better to know nothing.

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to bed. He looked at me firmly and said, ”Do you still feel bad?”

When I looked at him, I couldn’t help but be shocked, ”What’s making me so uncomfortable?”

”My wounds!”

I bowed my head, smiled at the corners of my mouth and shook my head. ”No, you told me before that your life or death is no longer my business.”

I knew that it would make him angry. We have always tried avoiding quarrels yet our issues always come to the surface.

He looked at me with deep eyes and said, ”Ivelle, you didn’t really take me to your heart, did you?”

”Yes!” I nodded, feeling a little uncomfortable, exhaled and avoided his cold eyes. ”When Grandpa asked me to marry you, at first I liked you because you met the criteria for all girls to find husbands, which was being handsome and rich.”

”When I first met you, I had fantasies about being in love, so I married you gratefully. But after a long time, I found myself just imagining wishfully.”

Nicole Blakeley had already defeated me.
