Over at Jiang Mansion

Tonight, over at the Hospital, Lin Luyou’s parents were doing the night shift. Jiang Shiyi had wanted to stay there, but was forcibly sent home by Lin’s mom.

After all these days, Lin’s parents had grown to think better and better of him.

Jiang Shiyi was thoughtful and meticulous in everything he did, not missing a single detail, and with a bit of a cleanliness obsession. He even disinfected and cleaned the bathroom in the hospital room every day, and he took especially good care of Lin Luyou.

Some people might put on an act for a while just to please their future in-laws, but staying in the hospital to keep watch over a patient is boring, tedious, and extremely fussy work to begin with.

It might not be entirely accurate to use ”no filial son at a long-suffering bedside” to describe their relationship, but it’s enough to show that taking care of a patient isn’t easy.

Yet Jiang Shiyi did it very well; there were things that even they, as her parents, might not have thought through as thoroughly as he did.

During the period when Lin Luyou was hospitalized, quite a few of the Lin Family’s relatives and friends came to visit. It was only then that they learned about his relationship with Lin Luyou. At first they were all a bit reserved, but Jiang Shiyi was able to quickly get along with them.

Relatives and friends kept talking in Lin’s parents’ ears, saying Lin Luyou was really blessed.

What parents don’t wish for their daughter to marry happily? After hearing it again and again, their impression of Jiang Shiyi improved a lot, and now they basically took turns doing the night shift.

Jiang Jinsang roughly went over what happened at dinner today with Jiang Shiyi; the two of them were on the same wavelength—this Yang Yiyi was definitely not simple.

”Just one meal, and you only talked about that much?” Jiang Shiyi raised his eyebrows.

”There was more, but the rest was just her and Fourth Brother’s pointless small talk.”

”Tell me about it.”

Jiang Jinsang picked out some highlights, and Jiang Shiyi felt a bit of a headache coming on. ”Good thing I had you go along. Where is he?”

”With Zeyan. By this time he should’ve been home already, logically speaking.”

Back in the day, Qi Zeyan often went out carousing with him. Ever since he got into a relationship and started preparing for marriage, unless there was some necessary social engagement, he practically always went home early to keep his wife company. Where would he find the time to mess around with him now?

”Why don’t we give him a call and ask?”

”Let’s wait a bit. I’ll go take a shower first.” Jiang Shiyi said, and went back to his room.

There was no way those two could have guessed that at this moment, Jiang Chengsi was climbing over the wall outside the Si Family residence.

On a normal day, the Si Family’s people would just pretend not to see—this wasn’t his first time, after all—but today was different. His steps were even a little unsteady.

He lifted his foot to push off the wall, and as soon as he climbed up, his balance wobbled and he nearly fell.

The people watching from the surveillance room in the Si Family were scared out of their wits. Their wall had been repaired last year; it wasn’t exactly low. If he fell from that height and hit a rock or something, that would really be a major incident.

”Fourth Master seems to have been drinking.”

”Not ’seems’—he definitely has. So what do we do now?”

”Inform Miss, but don’t alarm Sir.”

...

The Si Family’s people had already covered for him once; they naturally didn’t dare report directly to Si Yushan.

If they got found out and someone dug up his first time climbing the wall, they’d all be in trouble.

It’s just that some things really do happen precisely because you’re afraid of them.

One of them had just come out of the surveillance room, about to go inform Si Qingxiao—her room was on the second floor—when he ran smack into Si Yushan, who was coming downstairs in loungewear.

He was holding a transparent insulated cup in his hand; clearly, he was coming down to make tea and get some water.

”So late, what’s up?” It was already past ten at night. Si Yushan had been busy with work; at this hour, they were not supposed to be upstairs.

The Si Family’s servant had been planning to avoid Si Yushan, but he hadn’t expected to run right into him.
