Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

The March wind, warm during the day like wine, feels a touch cool at night.

The hotel reception staff initially thought that the person supporting Jiang Chengsi out was one of their own, after all, moving a ”corpse” boldly inside the hotel was unusual. Seeing Qi Zeyan’s peculiar expression, they became anxious too.

”It’s not someone you know? Then... should we call the police?” The hotel also feared taking responsibility.

”Do you have surveillance footage that you can show me?” Qi Zeyan preferred not to call the police if he wasn’t sure it was someone familiar.

The Jiang Family’s Fourth Master, a man running a bar club, being ”picked up like a corpse” surely would make a scandal if spread.

”Yes, just a moment, I will get the manager.”

The hotel manager was initially pleased about Qi Zeyan and Ruan Mengxi’s engagement at his venue, a great promotion opportunity, but when he heard a guest was missing, especially Jiang Chengsi, he turned pale.

He took them to his office to access the surveillance footage. The hotel lobby and outside had many cameras, and it was unclear which one captured the scene, so retrieving the right footage took time.

Qi Zeyan kept making calls to Jiang Chengsi but never got an answer.

”Still no answer?” Ruan Mengxi’s palms were drenched with sweat from the anxiety. This incident completely overshadowed the joy of their engagement.

”No answer.”

Qi Zeyan’s expression was stern while the manager operated the computer, his fingers trembled:

What bad luck to encounter such an incident.

”Qi... Young Master Qi, found it, it’s this girl.”

Qi Zeyan quickly leaned in to look and clenched his phone, veins throbbing visibly along the back of his hand.

Who the hell is this...

She looks familiar!

”Who is it? Do you know her?” Ruan Mengxi approached the computer seeing him silent, ”Isn’t this...’Miss Xiao’?”

”You know her!” The manager breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, she wasn’t taken from the hotel by a stranger.

”Thank you, manager, sorry for troubling you.” Ruan Mengxi thanked the manager and pulled Qi Zeyan away.

”Who was that person?” Qi Zeyan was unfamiliar with Si Qingxiao, hardly seen her, had no impression.

”You don’t know her?”

”Should I know her?”

”Previously...” this ”Miss Xiao” is now a club sensation having teamed up with Jiang Chengsi when Geng Dong stirred trouble. This story spread in the circles, but upon thinking, Ruan Mengxi realized Qi Zeyan hadn’t really seen her, ”At Xiaowai’s full moon, she sat next to the Fourth Master, no impression?”

”At the time, my eyes were on your parents; how could I remember her.”

The full moon celebration was the first meeting between the Qi and Ruan families; Qi Zeyan was quite nervous, couldn’t remember irrelevant guests.

”But I don’t have her contact, I’ll ask Wanwan.”

...

Tang Wan’s phone vibrated while she was bathing her son; Jiang Jinsang answered.

”Xiaoruan, what’s up? Wanwan can’t talk right now.”

”I want to ask for ’Miss Xiao’s’ contact information.”

”Asking for her contact?”

”She took the Fourth Master away without a word, nearly scared us mad thinking it was a stranger kidnapping him.” Ruan Mengxi spoke more relaxed, given familiarity.

”Then don’t worry about it, nothing will happen.”

”Not worry? Don’t we want to know how the Fourth Master is?”

”Even if something happens, he’s the one benefiting.”

”...”

The reasoning seemed logical, but saying it as a brother felt odd.

His own brother taken away, yet he wasn’t worried a bit.

However, thinking back, Ruan Mengxi recalled club gossip about the two racing together with the Fourth Master coaching, embracing eventually, and him leaving holding her hand, their relationship seemingly extraordinary, it made sense now.

Earlier, the urgency had clouded her judgment.

After Ruan Mengxi hung up, Qi Zeyan finally asked about ’Miss Xiao’s’ background.

”It’s likely she’s the Fourth Master’s girlfriend, the Fifth Master advised us not to worry.”

”His girlfriend, her?”

Qi Zeyan thought that taking someone away without notice was quite audacious of the girl...

She’s quite unconventional!

Indeed, a match made in heaven!

Feeling strangely shocked, Qi Zeyan really resented Jiang Chengsi.

Coming to my engagement to act deep, feign melancholy, and now staging this ”disappearance,” are you deliberately messing with me?

”Why? Venting anger?” Ruan Mengxi clung to his arm.

”Don’t you think he’s doing it on purpose!”
