Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

”How could it be intentional, are we still going to sing? Dabao just texted us, asking if we’re going.”

”No, let them have fun. I’m really not in the mood right now. If I go with a cold face, I’m afraid everyone won’t enjoy themselves. If you want to go, I’ll drop you at the door.”

Zeyan grew more irritated the more he thought about it.

This guy came to provoke him a few days ago, and now he pulls this stunt.

Just you wait, I’ll settle this account with you sooner or later.

”Then I won’t go either, I’ll call him.”

”Tell them we’ll settle the bill later, let them enjoy themselves.” Zeyan, scared out of his wits, truly had lost interest in singing and having fun.

Remembering he’d booked a room for Jiang Chengsi made him even more exasperated.

This guy not only tormented him mentally but also made him bear an unnecessary expense.

Ruan Mengxi called Ding Dabao and then linked arms with him, ”Shall we go back to the hotel directly or take a stroll first, since you’ve been busy with engagement arrangements and quite tired.”

Zeyan initially wasn’t interested in taking a walk, but seeing Ruan Mengxi eager, he didn’t refuse.

They left the hotel, the night breeze was slightly chilly, Ruan Mengxi wore a sleeveless long dress today, and as the cold wind blew, she couldn’t help but shrink her neck; the next moment, a coat was draped over her shoulders.

”Put it on.” Knowing his mood was affected by Jiang Chengsi, Zeyan refrained from venting at Ruan Mengxi, softening his tone, though inevitably a bit firm.

It was rather domineering and forceful.

Ruan Mengxi obediently put on the coat, and Zeyan raised his hand to button the coat for her one by one.

”Actually, once you put on clothes, it’s not cold anymore.” Ruan Mengxi frankly said there was no need to button them.

”I think you’re cold.”

”...”

Noticing his sour mood, Ruan Mengxi complied quietly. They were already in a bustling area, not far from the night market, and after a few steps, they saw many vendors.

”Hungry? I noticed you haven’t eaten much tonight.” Zeyan glanced at the person beside him.

”Hungry.”

”What do you feel like eating?”

”I see there are many people over there.” Ruan Mengxi pointed to a stall about a hundred meters away, seemingly selling Guandong hot pot, a bit far from them.

”Let’s go over there.”

”I can’t walk, I’ve worn high heels all day, my feet hurt.” Ruan Mengxi smiled apologetically at him.

Zeyan frowned, why come out for a walk with sore feet? ”Then wait here, I’ll be right back.”

”Mm.” After saying this, Ruan Mengxi even stood on tiptoe and kissed his cheek, ”Hurry, I’ll wait for you to come back.”

Zeyan was somewhat helpless; he wore a formal suit today, even without the coat, with black pants and a white shirt, along with a slicked-back hairstyle. His handsome appearance attracted considerable attention.

There were quite a few buying Guandong hot pot, but when someone offered to let him cut in line, he politely refused, ”It’s okay, I can wait.”

”Buying for your girlfriend?” someone in the vicinity bravely asked.

”Yeah.”

”I heard you’re getting engaged today, congratulations.”

”Thank you.”

People around him felt as if they’d seen a celebrity, some even took out their phones to take pictures. Zeyan, slightly distracted, surveyed the area, and finally focused on a young girl, ”Sorry, mind if I ask, are you from Pingjiang?”

”I am.” The girl seemed quite flattered.

”Is there a place nearby that sells shoes, like women’s shoes?”

”A shoe shop? I think there’s one if you go a bit further.”

”Thanks.”

After greeting the vendor, Zeyan hurried toward the direction of the shoe shop.

It took quite some time to get back, and when he returned to where Ruan Mengxi was waiting, he was shocked to find...

Ruan Mengxi—

was gone!

He took a deep breath; wasn’t their engagement day calculated by both families as a Good Day? Said to be an auspicious day, yet one after another disappears on him?

Just as he prepared to call Ruan Mengxi, a familiar voice came from behind.

Through the microphone, loud and echoing.

”The gentleman over there in the white shirt, Mr. Qi...”

Zeyan turned around and saw Ruan Mengxi standing in the crowd, microphone in hand, surrounded by onlookers enjoying the show.

She was still wearing his coat, oversized, making her look a bit out of place.

Ruan Mengxi was already beautiful, and with her efforts to dress up today, she appeared even more exquisite.
