Chapter 980: Chapter 584: What’s So Good About Men? Isn’t Chasing a Career Better? (2)But actually, it’s:

A blind date!

She once protested to her father: ”Dad, I really don’t need blind dates, stop arranging these for me.”

Someone insisted: ”Who said I’m arranging a blind date? I just want you to make more friends.”

”Do I look that easy to fool to you?”

”Is it because you can’t forget that lousy guy?”

”No, I...”

”Since you’ve forgotten him, come out with me more often.”

Her father’s robber logic was:

If she refused, it meant she couldn’t let go of that relationship.

In the end, she had no choice. One day, she got up early, saying she was going to visit Old Master Tang for Tang Wan and headed straight to the Tang Family’s old house.

When the Ruan Family parents heard it was at Tang Wan’s request, they didn’t say much, even prepared some things for her to bring over.

Tang Yunxian had already returned to Pingjiang some time ago but had gone to the company early.

When Ruan Mengxi arrived, Old Master Tang was naturally very happy, but he said he was going to play Tai Chi with some old friends, so she, having nothing else to do, went along to the small park.

The elderly there were quite leisurely, usually chatting about their children. Suddenly a young girl arrived, and they were very enthusiastic about her.

The result of their over-enthusiasm was...

They started asking if she was single and offering to introduce her to someone.

She felt like she had just escaped a tiger’s den only to enter a wolf’s lair.

Old Master Tang seemed to notice she wasn’t in a good mood, so he took her to Yiyu Tea House, listened to storytelling, and ordered quite a bit of food for her.

When it was time to settle the bill, she found that the old man had already paid, which made her feel quite guilty.

”Grandpa, I earn money now. How can I let you treat me?”

”Just because you earn money, I can’t treat you?” Old Master Tang snorted softly.

”That’s not what I meant.”

”In my heart, you’re about the same as Wanwan; you’re my granddaughter. Grandpa’s treating you. Why be so polite?” Old Master Tang leaned on a cane with one hand and held her forearm with the other.

”It’s not easy being alone in Beijing, is it?”

”Grandpa is old, and my legs aren’t as nimble as they used to be. But if you want, anytime you want some peace, you’re always welcome at my house. Grandpa always welcomes you.”

...

Ruan Mengxi just felt like her heart had been fiercely struck, causing a sharp pain, almost breaking down emotionally again.

It’s impossible to forget someone you’ve liked for so long and cut off the relationship so neatly and swiftly; it always requires a process.

After returning home, with so many family members caring for her, she secretly gritted her teeth and started to seriously ponder a question:

With so many people around who care for her, why should she waste her feelings on one man?

Isn’t focusing on her career more rewarding?

After dropping Old Master Tang home, she reluctantly stayed for dinner at the Tang Family’s house before heading back.

”Yunxian, drive her home.”

”No need, I’ll just get a cab at the corner. Uncle has had a busy day too, no need to trouble him.” Ruan Mengxi smiled and declined.

”Then I’ll at least take you to the corner.” Tang Yunxian, treating her like a daughter, gave her no chance to refuse and was already heading outside.

During the drive, he was just like an ordinary elder, asking about her work situation, and Ruan Mengxi answered one by one, until Tang Yunxian said: ”... A while ago, I met your dad.”

”My dad?” Though she and Tang Wan were close, the parents didn’t have much interaction, so it was rare.

”A common friend invited us for a meal, and we bumped into each other.”

”That’s quite a coincidence.”

”After a couple of drinks, we chatted for a bit. Your dad mentioned you’re not that young anymore, asking if I knew anyone suitable to introduce to you.”

”...”

Ruan Mengxi was speechless, and upon returning home, she asked her father why he was discussing this everywhere.

He replied: ”There aren’t many outstanding young men left, we need to cast a wide net to catch the big fish.”

Ruan Mengxi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, feeling both exasperated and speechless. Having just returned from the Tang Family, she gave Tang Wan a call.

Beijing, Guantang Villa

Tang Wan had just finished dinner too, but tonight, it wasn’t just her and Jiang Jinsang at home; Jiang Chengsi and Qi Zeyan were also there.
