Stinging heart

Along the way, Jordan told me several things about the Gates family. The Gates clan was a hundred-year-old family who became rich by reselling weapons during the Anti-Japanese War. Later, Grandpa Astley was brought back to the mainland and grew up in the mainland. After a few years of peace in the country, Grandpa Gates was inexplicably dragged to fight. Later, he met a group of old comrades-in-arms, that is, Grandpa Astley and Grandpa Gates at that time. Of course, it also includes Grace Cross’s grandfather Dominic Cross. These old comrades-in-arms have all experienced life and death together, so although they have been apart these years, everyone is thinking about each other.

Grandpa Gates came back to Las Vegas to inherit the family business from the mainland after the war. I heard that it was because several sons of the Gates family died of illness and died unexpectedly, so there was no way to find Grandpa Gates, who originally grew up in the mainland, to inherit the family business.

The feud between right and wrong in the rich and powerful families is mostly caused by money.

Walking into the Gates’ house with Jordan Astley, all the buildings show classical elegance, courtyard pavilion, rockery pond, garden bamboo forest. This Gates family mansion is not like a residence, but more like a courtyard park.

Followed the servant into the hall, there are already many people, men, and women, old and young, presumably are the descendants of the Gates’ family, did not see Timothy Gates, but look at the faces of these people in the hall, I think Timothy Gates’ situation is not good.

”Mr. and Mrs. Astley, your Lordship is upstairs. Please meet me upstairs!” It was the housekeeper of the Gates family who spoke. He was already fifty or sixty years old, and he was calm and gentle.

Under his leadership, Jordan Astley and I went up to the second floor and went into a room full of strong disinfectant and medicine. A doctor in a white coat was writing in the living room and the servant next to him told me that it was supposed to explain how to take care of the patient.

”Inside, please!” The housekeeper opened his mouth and took us into the bedroom.

The smell of medicine grew stronger in the bedroom, and an old man was lying on the bed, with an infusion bracket hanging from the bed and an infusion bottle hanging from it. The housekeeper went in and said, ”Your Lordship, Mr. Astley is here.”

The old man on the bed heard the noise and tried to get up from the bed. The maid on one side went over and helped him up and leaned him on. The old man looked at me and Jordan Astley in the direction of me and Jordan Astley.

The long-term illness makes the old man look pale and emaciated, particularly morbid, and seems likely to end his life at any time.
