”...”

Jiang Chengsi was dumbfounded.

This wasn’t how he imagined the scenario, ”No, Uncle, you gave me a break, so I could...”

”What else did you think it was for?”

Jiang Chengsi chuckled awkwardly, usually, a boss would say something like, ”You need a vacation...”

And then just kick you out.

Why wasn’t he playing by the usual rules?

”About what happened last time, I guessed some parts, it’s just that I didn’t expect you to be so firm, leaving me speechless. Once your break is over, you can handle business negotiations for the company, I think the negotiation table is your stage.”

”Uncle, I was wrong.”

”Alright, let’s not dwell on the past, you’ve had enough grievances recently.” Si Yushan patted him on the arm, ”Take a good rest for a while. That girl Xiaoxiao also wants to see you, take her out for some fun, and come over for dinner at our house tomorrow night.”

At this moment, Jiang Chengsi thought that Si Yushan looked as amiable as Maitreya Buddha, ”Thank you, Uncle.”

”I’m also being upfront with you, if you don’t want to do business, I won’t force you, and don’t end up doing what you dislike just to please me, it’s easy to pretend for a short time, but doing it long term will surely cause problems.”

”If I initially wanted a son-in-law to take over, I would have chosen that boy from the Xie Family, and not agreed to you dating Xiaoxiao at all.”

Si Yushan said earnestly, ”We’re looking for a son-in-law, not a successor, keep that in mind.”

”If you and Xiaoxiao get married, many things can be discussed between you two, the family company can be managed by others, but it just needs someone knowledgeable to oversee it.”

...

Jiang Chengsi listened intently, thinking that when one reaches the peak of misfortune, surely good fortune will start to come.

Jiang Chengsi was happy chatting with his father-in-law in the small grove, while Tang Wan felt a bit rough on her end. Si Qingxiao, claiming to see the child, even took Jiang Xiaowai’s measurements, saying she would make clothes for him.

”No need to make clothes for him, kids grow so fast, I think by the time the clothes are done, he won’t fit in them.”

”Then I’ll crochet a few little hats for him, and he can wear them in the fall and winter.” Si Qingxiao said as she ruffled Jiang Xiaowai’s little head.

This hair seems a bit thin.

With Si Qingxiao’s kind intentions, Tang Wan couldn’t refuse repeatedly and just nodded in agreement.

”Do you have time to go to the studio while taking care of the child?” Si Qingxiao asked casually, making small talk.

”It depends, but there’s a workspace at home, I can be busy at home too.”

”Can I take a look?”

”Sure, it’s just a bit messy.”

Tang Wan showed her around her workspace, initially just for a tour, but then Si Qingxiao suddenly said, ”I went to see an opera before and saw the beautiful hairpieces Cyan Feather wore, and heard that many were customized here.”

”Yes.” Tang Wan said with an awkward smile.

What will be will be, it can’t be avoided.

”I think they’re quite pretty, those costumes and accessories must cost a fortune.”

Tang Wan laughed dryly, ”He spends a lot of money on them.”

”If you have time, could you make a Beijing Opera hairpiece for me as well? I’d like to keep it as a collection.”

”...”

”I can pay upfront, as for the time... I’m not in a hurry, you can take your time; I can wait.”

Holding her son, Tang Wan almost wanted to cry, thinking: you’re not even an opera singer, why do you need this?

The result was that when Jiang Jinsang found out, after Jiang Chengsi had gone for a walk in the small grove, he came back as if he had bathed in the spring breeze, casual and carefree.

While Tang Wan, bringing Si Qingxiao downstairs, was forcing a smile and when asked why, she just sighed:

”I’ve finally realized some things, no matter how you try to avoid them, it’s useless, life won’t let you go; even if life lets you go... she won’t let you go.”

”...”

Jiang Jinsang couldn’t understand, how did this suddenly become so melancholic and sentimental?
