Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

Huo Qinqi thought for a long time and only sent two words:

[Badass.]

Jiang Chengsi studied the two words carefully. [Huo Qinqi, I didn’t ask you to rate what happened. Can you give me some practical advice?]

[I’m going to change my son’s diaper. Talk later.]

I... screw your damn leg!

I don’t even know if I’ll make it out of this little grove at home alive, talk later my ass.

In fact, this little move of Jiang Chengsi’s, Si Yushan saw it all, but he didn’t call him out. ”Chengsi...”

”Uncle, I’m here!” Jiang Chengsi immediately put his phone away. Just what kind of people has he surrounded himself with.

When they’d been fighting a common enemy and abusing the scumbag together before, he felt like he was the group’s baby, everyone was helping him. As soon as the crisis passed, they stopped treating him like a person.

”It’s pretty cool in this grove. The wind here is way more refreshing than sitting inside with the AC on.”

”Yeah.”

”These trees must have been growing here for many years, look how thick they are.” Si Yushan raised his hand and patted a towering poplar.

”They say they were planted when the old house was built, so they’re probably close to a hundred years old.”

”No wonder it’s a nice place to cool off in summer.”

...

Si Yushan chatted with him in bits and pieces, while Jiang Chengsi was already burning with anxiety.

The longer the time dragged on, the more it felt like there was a blunt knife pressed to his neck, slicing inch by inch, bleeding him out. If you’ve got the guts, then give me a clean cut already.

Just when Jiang Chengsi had steeled himself and was about to take the initiative, Si Yushan suddenly changed the topic:

”Are you uncomfortable in Nanjiang? You resent me a lot for exiling you there?”

”Uncle, I was just putting on a show back then. I know you did it for my own good. How could I complain?”

When he went to Nanjiang, he and Si Qingxiao were in the throes of a hot romance, so of course he didn’t want to leave. But then he thought, if Si Yushan really wanted to make things hard for him, to send him away or make him back off, he could’ve easily dumped him in some godforsaken nowhere. How would he have let him get near the core projects?

Jiang Chengsi might run his mouth, but deep down he understood.

”Really no complaints?” Si Yushan turned to look at him. Because of the height difference, he actually had to tilt his head up a bit.

This kid...

What on earth did he grow up eating.

”None.” Jiang Chengsi’s tone was firm.

”I want the truth.”

Jiang Chengsi coughed lightly. He knew exactly what kind of person Si Yushan was; there was no need to play little tricks in front of him. The man’s mind was as clear as a polished mirror. He nodded. ”Of course I had complaints.”

”Tell me, what were they?”

”First of all, it’s too far from Beijing, and it’s hard to see Xiaoxiao.”

”Second, the work is too busy. There’s basically no time to catch my breath.”

”And Mr. Yan is extremely strict. Working with him is very stressful. I work during the day and at night I have to cram a lot of related knowledge. I’m also afraid of embarrassing you.”

...

Si Yushan had hoped Jiang Chengsi would talk to him honestly. He wasn’t someone who liked forcing others, he just didn’t expect that once this kid started talking, he’d rattle on nonstop.

By the end he was even complaining that the food in Nanjiang didn’t suit his taste. The corner of Si Yushan’s mouth twitched hard.

I basically sent you out on the company’s dime to date, and you’re this aggrieved?

After going on for ages, Jiang Chengsi finally realized he’d said too much. He cleared his throat. ”Uncle, I’m done.”

”Really done?”

”Mm.” Jiang Chengsi wanted nothing more than to pinch his own thigh. Who told you to talk that much.

”Do you still want to learn business? Don’t say things just to please me. Are you actually interested in this?”

”I think business is pretty fun.”

”Still want to learn from me?”

”Yeah.” Jiang Chengsi genuinely felt doing business was quite interesting, so this wasn’t against his will. ”Uncle, there was a bit of a mess before. When do you think I can go back to the company? How about tomorrow?”

”Take a week off first, then we’ll see.”

As soon as Jiang Chengsi heard that, he panicked. He knew Si Yushan wouldn’t forgive him that easily. ”Uncle, I really want to work, like I can’t wait kind of want. I’m going moldy staying at home! Look at my eyes...”

”Filled with anticipation, right?”

”I really, really want to go back to the company, I mean it!”
