Guandong Si Family

The matter of Jiang Chengsi’s ”exile” being extended was mentioned by Si Yushan at the dinner table to Si Qingxiao.

”... He’s at the age of striving, and began engaging in finance rather late, so more experience is beneficial for him.”

Si Qingxiao simply nodded in agreement, but barely ate dinner, claiming she was going to make clothes and went upstairs.

”That girl barely ate anything...” Si Yushan sighed, noticing his wife across from him also set her chopsticks down, ”What? You’re not eating either?”

”Yushan, I know you have some opinions about Chengsi. Since they’re dating, how their relationship progresses is their own affair. He’s finally coming back, and Xiaoxiao’s been quite happy lately, now you pull something like this. Do you think she can still eat?”

Si Yushan also set his chopsticks down, took a napkin, and wiped the corner of his mouth, ”You think I’m deliberately making things difficult for him?”

”Could it be otherwise?”

”That’s part of the reason. Actually, I’m more concerned. I twisted my back earlier, and if it were 20 years ago, a few days of rest would suffice. Look at me now, still feeling uncomfortable, aging isn’t something that can be denied.” Si Yushan sighed.

”Everyone claims being the son-in-law of the Si Family is a stroke of luck, but similarly, he’ll also live under a constant spotlight, with people questioning whether he’s worthy or not.”

”With such a large company, even if we hire professional managers in the future, there must be someone in the family keeping things in order. The biggest test for them won’t be now, but after marriage...”

You Yunzhi pressed her lips together without speaking.

”How long can we protect them? What I can teach him is limited; the future will require their own management. Always sticking by me means no one will sincerely teach him anything.”

Si Yushan was speaking the truth, bearing the title of Si Family’s prospective son-in-law, everyone would flatter and appease him.

”But you shouldn’t have placed him under Yan Wangchuan there. You know his temperament; he won’t even spare you any face. Will he treat Chengsi kindly?”

You Yunzhi sighed deeply.

”Precisely because of this, staying in Nanjiang will allow him to learn. If he can handle the Yan Family, he can manage even the toughest and meanest people in the business world later.” Si Yushan stated outright.

”...”

You Yunzhi found herself speechless, unsure what to say.

If Mr. Yan heard these words, who knows if he’d find them flattering or insulting.

”That child has always been left to his own devices by the Jiang Family. Yan Wangchuan emphasizes rules and is rigidly severe to the point of strictness. I believe he’ll grow a lot upon this return.”

You Yunzhi understood that he had high hopes for Jiang Chengsi, genuinely wanting to cultivate him.

”Then you also need to clearly explain things to Xiaoxiao. Knowing he’s coming back soon, you can’t imagine how happy she’s been. You won’t let her go find him and even confiscated his ID. What kind of person are you...”

”If this girl went over, you’d say I spent money for him to do business, only for him to use my money to court my daughter?”

”...”

You Yunzhi was at a loss for words, feeling the conversation was growing increasingly absurd.

After dinner, she warmed a cup of milk and placed it in front of him.

”I don’t drink milk.” Si Yushan was reviewing the work report sent back by Jiang Chengsi.

”Send it to your daughter to drink.”

...

When Si Yushan knocked on the studio door, Si Qingxiao was operating the sewing machine, ”Dad, why are you here?”

”Drink the milk and go to bed early.”

”Just leave it, I’ll drink it later.”

Si Yushan said nothing further, placed the milk down, and left.

Si Qingxiao felt deeply troubled; being forced apart during the passionate phase was certainly painful given Jiang Chengsi’s efforts. She pinched her eyebrows, lacking interest in making clothes, and prepared to head to her room.

With her peripheral vision spotting the warm milk, she took a couple of sips. As she planned to also tidy up the coaster, she discovered something pressed beneath it...

Instantly, a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.

Jiang Chengsi was sulking in Nanjiang, while reactions from the Jiang Family regarding his extended stay varied widely.

The elderly lady Jiang kept quiet but still worried, noticing the rising temperatures as Beijing starts breeding mosquitoes and gnats, occasionally muttering: ”I’ve heard there are many mosquitoes in Nanjiang...”
