Chapter 750: 461 Visiting the parents-in-law, a parade like asking for a hand in marriage (2 more updates)_3”Shuci, come with me,” the Shen family patriarch said directly, and although a group of people were waiting, this was, after all, family business that couldn’t be spread out in public.

Shen Shuci greeted the Jiang family members one by one before following her parents into their bedroom.

That left everyone else looking at each other in bewilderment, but the old lady just smiled and asked, ”Qiqi, what brings you here?”

”I...” Qi Zeyan really wanted to say, I can leave!

But Jiang Jinsang spoke up, cutting off his escape, ”He’s staying at our place tonight.”

”Is everything okay at the police station?” Tang Wan asked, once again casting a glance at Shen Shuci’s retreating figure.

Auntie... really does things quietly yet significantly.

Even managing to handle someone as difficult as Big Brother Huo.

Truly worthy of being my auntie.

At this moment, facing the deathly serious stare of the Shen patriarch, Shen Shuci was somewhat alarmed. With the elders being of advanced age, she truly worried that they might get agitated.

After a long silence...

”Dad, Mom, actually, Mr. Huo and I aren’t in that kind of relationship, really not,” Shen Shuci initiated, ”We’re just ordinary friends.”

”Everyone outside is talking about it, and you say you’re just ordinary friends?” the Shen patriarch questioned.

”How far have you two developed? Are you really cohabiting?” the old lady asked softly.

”No! Don’t listen to the media nonsense.”

”It’s fine, if you’re really cohabiting, I can handle it. After all, I’ve lived abroad for so many years, I’m quite open-minded,” the matriarch of the Shen family believed she had the psychological resilience.

”It’s really nothing, if you don’t believe me, I can swear,” Shen Shuci didn’t know how else to explain, to the point where she resorted to making oaths.

”If you’re not cohabiting then you’re not, no need to swear. So, what stage have you two reached?”

”Mom, we’re just ordinary friends, what development could there be?” Shen Shuci explained.

The Shen family head started, ”Since you’re just ordinary friends, why does he drop you off and pick you up from work, and why can he enter your residence? When you live alone, even Xiaowu comes over only with Wanwan, observing propriety. Yet, you bring a strange man home, explain to me, what’s the reason for that.”

Shen Shuci was at a loss for words; there was too much to the story. If she told her parents about the previous horse incident and the matter with Manager Fan, they’d surely worry.

”Can’t you ask more gently? How do you expect the child to answer that?” the Shen old lady frowned.

Seeing her mother come to her aid, Shen Shuci was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when the old lady delivered several even more definitive lines.

”Holding hands, hugging, kissing... have you done any of these?”

If none of these had happened, even if they’d visited her home, it likely meant they were just ordinary friends.

But...

Shen Shuci had done all of these, and if she lied now, with Huo Qinqi’s temperament, should he arrive and sell her out directly, her parents, at their age, might genuinely pass out from shock.

”Why are you not talking?” the Shen patriarch frowned, ”Have you two done all these things?”

Shen Shuci continued to be silent.

”You, girl...” The Shen patriarch pointed at her forehead, ”Holding hands and hugging, fine, but... you’ve even kissed. Tell me, which ’ordinary friend’ would do such things?”

”You hid it from us, fine, but you even kept it from Wanwan, you’re quite good at keeping secrets. Back when the Jiang family had that banquet, were you two already involved?”

”No wonder this kid came over, volunteering to stay with us.”

”...” Shen Shuci truly didn’t know how to explain, ”Dad, later...”

Later, the Huo family was supposed to come over!

But before she could finish speaking, the sound of cars arriving came from outside, and with the patriarch still fuming, he didn’t give her a chance to speak.

”In the past, your sister was quietly whisked away by your brother-in-law, you haven’t learned... Are you planning to have children before you tell us?”

Tang Yunxian was mentioned for no reason, being targeted multiple times.

...

Meanwhile, Tang Wan knocked on the door, and the old patriarch immediately lowered his voice. He cared about appearances and didn’t want Tang Wan to hear.

”What is it?” the Shen patriarch asked with a frown.

”May I come in?”

”Come on in.”
