Chapter 749: 461 Paying a Visit to the Parents-in-law, a Marriage Proposal-like Grand Display (2nd Update)_2”Miss Shen, this is the second time you’ve walked past our door. We all know you two are close; you don’t have to show off like that.”

”I...”

She might not have even realized that she was dragging Huo Qinqi around most of the police station, leading everyone to assume that the two of them were here to show off, actually, to kill everyone with cuteness.

”Where exactly are you trying to take me?” Huo Qinqi asked, seeing her embarrassment and unable to resist speaking up.

He really enjoyed the feeling of being led by her.

”I just wanted to find a quiet place to talk to you for a moment.”

”A quiet place, huh? Go left.” A police officer led the way.

After the two of them left, everyone in the office started to laugh.

”I always felt these two were mismatched, but who would have thought they were so close? They’re not looking for a place to talk; it looks more like they want to find a secluded spot for some intimacy.”

”Long time no see, probably passion is flaring up. Those two should just go home instead.”

”We have to work overtime tonight, yet they get to go home and cuddle. Right, did the higher-ups approve Liang Han’s bail that the Liang Family requested?”

”Most likely they will.”

”That’s really shameless, bailing out such a scumbag.”

The Liang Family thought the Huo Family was there to support them, so they had prepared many things in advance, including getting Liang Han a medical examination to sue Jiang Jinsang for intentional injury, and on the other hand, to arrange bail on the grounds of his injuries.

...

Meanwhile, Shen Shuci and Huo Qinqi had reached the spot the police officer had directed them to. It was indeed empty, though not very large.

Away from the crowd, the sudden quiet made Shen Shuci realize that she was still holding his hand. ”I’m sorry...”

She subconsciously tried to let go, but her fingers had just loosened when he gripped her hand tightly in return.

His hand was rough with calluses, yet broad and warm, enveloping hers firmly as if clutching her heart. In that moment, Shen Shuci felt her heart tremble violently, sending a rush of nervousness through her.

When she tried to pull her hand away again, he held it even tighter.

”You...” Shen Shuci was both embarrassed and anxious. If it were anyone else, she would have slapped them by now.

”If you really don’t like this, you can resist more fiercely. You can hit me, then I won’t touch you,” Huo Qinqi said, looking down at her.

”I like you, but I also wouldn’t force you to do anything you don’t like.”

”...” Hit him?

Shen Shuci really couldn’t bring herself to do it.

It was just those two seconds of hesitation; he suddenly pulled her into his arms with force. His body, beyond the scent of cedar, carried a faint hint of tobacco. Shen Shuci’s other hand instinctively pressed between them, but her body still inevitably pressed too closely against him.

Even through several layers of clothing, such closeness still made her heartbeat accelerate.

”Huo Qinqi...” Shen Shuci’s voice quivered with palpitations.

”Mhm.” He replied.

”I have something to tell you, let go first.”

”Okay.”

She stepped out of his embrace, but he was still holding her hand, not letting go at all.

”Our relationship isn’t at that stage yet; you and your parents meeting mine might not be appropriate yet.”

”This situation today, doesn’t it need an explanation?”

”I can explain it myself.”

”The internet says we’re living together, already talking about marriage. Can you clear it up alone?”

”...”

At that moment, Huo Qinqi’s phone also began to vibrate. It was Liang Yun calling, probably heading out from the shopping mall and planning to meet up with him before heading to the Jiang Mansion.

”I should probably go back and talk to my parents first; they must be worried sick.” Seizing the moment while he was on the phone, Shen Shuci made a slight effort with her wrist, trying to free herself from his grip, but the next second...

With a strong grip, Huo Qinqi suddenly pulled her toward him, and before she could recover, a burning touch landed near her lips.

Her breath hitched, her heart suddenly stopped, and then started beating fast and hard, pounding against her chest in a muddle.

”Then you go back first, I’ll be there later,” he spoke almost brushing against her lips.

Their lips barely brushing with each mouth movement.

The warmth of his breath was scorching...
