Today, carrots were mostly used as a side dish to add color. Knowing her son wanted to eat them, Shen Zhixian hurried and specially made him a plate of stir-fried carrots with shredded meat, placing it right in front of him.

Fresh out of the pan, steaming hot.

The other dishes had been set on the table long ago. When they had guests over or hosted dinner parties, there was usually an even number of dishes, deemed auspicious. Shen Zhixian had prepared five dishes and one soup, making it six in total.

Clearly, the carrots were a last-minute addition.

Tears nearly burst from Jiangjiang’s eyes when he saw the dish.

”There’s not a bit of chili. It’s also delicious mixed with rice; eat more,” Shen Zhixian smiled warmly and kindly at him, her eyes fixed on him, radiating full motherly love.

Jiangjiang bit his lip:

This love... I really can’t take it.

Jiang Jinsang’s gaze suddenly swept across Taotao, who was sitting diagonally opposite him. The little girl was originally holding a cup of cola, happily sipping away. Their eyes suddenly met...

After all, being a child with a guilty conscience, she couldn’t bear it and bowed her head.

Jiang Jinsang suddenly laughed...

He always felt that his older brother’s little girl, innocent and occasionally coquettish, was particularly endearing, liking to stick close to him, like a docile little cat...

It turns out she had her own little cunning schemes.

Taotao was too young; once their eyes met, she panicked, fearing that her deceit would be exposed by Jiang Jinsang.

She glanced towards Jiangjiang, then at Shen Zhixian, ”Mom, I want to eat carrots too.”

Jiangjiang looked at his little sister, nearly moved to tears. He knew very well that Shen Zhixian loved him and would surely keep his favorite things for him. Jiang Yanting was to mention even less, being a lousy dad who wouldn’t share, and Xiaosi, who enjoyed spectacles...

He hadn’t expected Taotao to voluntarily share with him.

With most of the plate of stir-fried carrots with shredded meat eaten by Taotao, who was clearly uneasy, Jiangjiang was greatly moved.

He privately thanked her and vowed to treat his sister a thousand times better in the future.

Having had quite a bit of cola, Taotao left halfway through the meal to go to the restroom.

”I’ll take you,” Jiang Jinsang suddenly stood up.

With a panicked and blushing face, she let him lead her to the restroom. Once away from the others, she bit her lip, ”I was wrong...”

”Why are you apologizing?” Jiang Jinsang looked at her, truly a child, kindhearted and soft.

”I shouldn’t have lied to mom saying my brother likes carrots.”

”Why did you lie?”

”I just...” Taotao bit her lip, too embarrassed to say.

”Taotao, if you do things like this in the future, first of all, you mustn’t lose heart. Even if someone stares at you, don’t be afraid. If it were an enemy opposite you, not me, you’d easily be taken advantage of. No matter the situation, you must never lose your composure...”

”I shouldn’t lose it myself?” Such advice had never been given to her before.

”Jiangjiang is your brother; please don’t play tricks on him.” Jiang Jinsang suddenly felt that this girl might naturally be scheming, and Jiangjiang, under her influence, might suffer. He added another piece of advice.

”I understand.”

”This matter today, between you and me, I won’t speak of it.”

Taotao was always well-behaved, having never done anything overly wrong, hence her panic. Once Jiang Jinsang instilled these thoughts, it seemed as if she finally saw the light...

Her eyes looking at Jiang Jinsang shone brightly.

Having originally mixed with Jiang Chengsi, which had somewhat twisted her nature, Jiang Jinsang’s involvement now had fully led her astray...
