Chapter 1284: Chapter 1283: Expeditionary Army Chapter 1284: Chapter 1283: Expeditionary Army After the major battle in Minano City concluded.

The victorious Expeditionary Army received acknowledgment from an Upper Old King, along with a [special invitation].

The invitation stipulated a one-and-a-half-year deadline for the Expeditionary Army to head to London City (for detailed circumstances, please refer back to Chapter 1016 – Demon Sensing).

Unanimously agreed upon by all regiment leaders and deputy leaders, the original expedition plans were cut and condensed, resulting in a strategy that would reach London City within a year.

Thanks to the intervention of the Upper Old King, the following expedition journey could be described as smooth sailing.

When passing through Demon Land, as long as the Knight Regiment did not initiate an attack, Demons, which have always seen humans as food and even harbor hatred, would all actively make way.

There were a very few Demons with [neutral attitudes] who even willingly accepted the passing Expeditionary Army, dispatching Messengers to have friendly exchanges with the leaders, and offered to provide basic food and lodging services.

Of course, all these friendly invitations from Demons were subsequently declined by the Expeditionary Army.

Were one to truly rest in the estates or towns of Demons for a night, even if the other party had good intentions, the [pollution index] of the Knight Regiment would inevitably rise quickly.

Likewise.

Taking advantage of such opportunities, the Expeditionary Army would sometimes carry out large-scale gold mining to ensure the normal operation of Endless Energy.

Furthermore, through the Stele Secret Text provided by the Secret Language Knight Order, the Knight Regiment obtained numerous Chaos Materials deep in the valleys, at the bottoms of rivers, or in certain dilapidated ruins.

By sending materials to the Moving Sanctuary for purification treatment, they could be utilized by the Knight Regiment.

Speaking of purification, one cannot fail to mention the biggest issue with expeditions outside the City – [pollution].

Humans being in the Demon World, pollution always tops the list of dangers.

To contend with pollution, the Holy Knights Group devised a plan – “Classification, Treatment, and Abandonment of the Fallen”.

This plan was unanimously approved at the pre-expedition meeting, and fully applied to the Big Expedition.

First, individuals would be classified according to different degrees of pollution into the following ‘four scenarios’:

1. Hallucinations: Individuals occasionally heard whispering voices, mistook teammates for Demons with twisted postures, or even felt like they were touching rotten flesh, decaying corpses, or unclean things like sticky Tentacles when touching normal materials.

2. Evil Text:

Aside from one type of scenario, individuals’ vocal structures would change, causing them to mutter to themselves occasionally, uttering ancient languages not belonging to humans, affecting nearby individuals with pollution.

Or inadvertently, they would inscribe ancient texts on themselves, directly influencing close companions or teammates.

3. Decay: Individuals would exhibit Demon-like features – such as Tentacles, dense pores, Hyperplasia of eyeballs, multi-tooth structures, exposed internal organs, etc., accounting for less than 30% of the Body, with less than 10% brain decay.

4. Fallen: Decay rate exceeding the third condition.

Type one scenarios would be treated by nearby Saint Level Knights and revisit the Moving Sanctuary within a week for a re-examination.

Type two scenarios would require immediate treatment in The Sanctuary, with isolation for three days or more.

Type three scenarios would need ‘combined treatment’; during the purification by high-ranking priests, physicians from the Scarlet Knights would also perform limb amputations and, if necessary, full-body blood transfusions, with isolation for more than fifteen days.

Type four scenarios would not be treated, all lifelong rights would be stripped, and they would be Forced Abandoned. In severe cases, they would be regarded as Demons and executed on the spot.

Initially, ‘treatment and abandonment’ were within controllable limits.

But while crossing the English Channel.

[Eternal Night] combined with [Sea area], causing the rate of pollution of the Expeditionary Army to exceed controllable values.
