The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress

This was a question directed at Bai Lian.

Bai Jian: [Image]

Bai Jian: [Can you translate this?]

Jiangjing Music Academy.

In the office, President Jian put on his glasses and opened the image Bai Lian sent him. It was a version of the Jianzipu traditional music notation.

He glanced at it, then taking his own guzheng, slowly started to play the notes following Bai Lian’s tune, one by one.

After replicating the entire tune, Jian couldn’t hide his shock.

“President.” A student knocked on the door from outside.

Jian Zhongyou came back to his senses, “Come in.”

Once the student left, Jian Zhongyou hurriedly studied the entire piece, taking a pen and turning the Jianzipu into staff notation. The Jianzipu was just part of his research; by converting it into staff notation, he could string the entire piece together from beginning to end.

After he finished, he played it more smoothly.

The whole piece was majestic, grandiose, and yet tragic. Jian Zhongyou heard such an emotionally complex tune for the first time.

For a musician, receiving such a good piece was simply incredible.

President Jian: [!!!]

President Jian: [Where did you get this?]

He sent the converted staff notation back to Bai Lian.

After physical education class, Bai Lian opened the image and saw the staff notation President Jian had sent her. She didn’t understand it very well, but she could follow it together with the Jianzipu.

She didn’t quite understand why President Jian was so excited.

Bai Jian: [A song I wrote for a friend]

President Jian: [?]

President Jian: [Did you write this????]

Bai Jian: [1]

Jian Zhongyou couldn’t comprehend Bai Lian’s calm demeanor.

It took him a long while to calm down, during which he didn’t even think to ask why Bai Lian didn’t use staff notation to record the music.

After all, these days, few people knew about Jianzipu.

He asked methodically: [Such a good piece can’t be treated lightly. Who arranged it?]

Bai Jian: [Don’t know]

President Jian: […]

Friday.

In the Zhang family’s backyard.

Yan Lu was practicing with a spear, and Sister Xin stood in the corner on the phone, “Right, another week, huh…”

After hanging up, Sister Xin couldn’t help but sigh.

Yan Lu pivoted on the spot, and the spear obediently circled around in her hand, smoothly and adeptly.

“Sister Xin, just use the one you bought last time,” Yan Lu put away her spear, her demeanor cool and detached. She had to join the cast the day after tomorrow, and there wasn’t enough time.

Sister Xin frowned, “But…”

She had listened to the demo, and from her non-professional perspective, both the lyrics and the composition seemed somewhat lacking.

It was a minor issue if An Qi and Man Xi made fun of it, but if Yan Lu’s debut song for her role was that bad, it would inevitably lead to an online backlash.

Yan Lu comforted Sister Xin, “I’m not a professional singer anyway; can I still get famous from singing? As long as I perform my part well in the drama, the viewers will change their minds later.”

“Creak—”

The back door was pushed open.

Weng Qi noisily carried a flowerpot inside, greeting the two of them familiarly, “Sister Yan, Sister Xin.”

Following him.

Bai Lian and Ning Xiao each carried a flowerpot.

Sister Xin quickly stepped aside to let the students set down the flowerpots.

Seeing a truck parked outside, she and Yan Lu also helped move a few loads, and the group finished moving the flowerpots in just a few minutes.

Zhang Ma came in from the front with a bunch of colas.

Bai Lian opened the pull-tab of the soda can with one hand, while taking out two casually folded pieces of paper and a USB drive from her school uniform’s pocket and handed them to Sister Xin, “Here’s the song, and the demo is on this USB drive.”

“Ah?” Sister Xin stared at her hand for a good while before taking them absent-mindedly, “You finished everything? You also did the arrangement?”

Bai Lian took a casual sip of her cola, raised an eyebrow, “I only took part in the lyric and music composition.”

“Then who did the arrangement?” Sister Xin reflexively asked.

As for the arrangement—

It was Jian Zhongyou.

In an ordinary day, created by Bai Xiangjun herself, with the composition by the modern music leading figure, President of the Jiangjing Music Academy, Jian Zhongyou, a top-level cross-century collaboration…

…had been born!
