The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress

Chapter 279: The first pianist at the time, went to find President Jian_1

Bai Lian had only used the Jianzipu notation to jot down the main melody of the song, which encompassed its framework and soul.

But as someone from the ancient past, she was not very familiar with modern instruments.

The arrangement of a song is really too important.

An arranger needs to understand various music theories and learn to match different instruments to compose accompaniment, enriching the music.

This was not a difficult task for Jian Zhongyou, who had been involved with music since childhood. He had participated in many arrangements, and he didn’t even need a music library—in fact, he could grab anyone from the music academy, where talented men and women were a dime a dozen, and they could play the parts needed for his arrangement on the spot.

Sister Xin gathered up the USB drive and the two pieces of paper, “I’ll listen to it as soon as I get back.”

In reality, Sister Xin didn’t hold much hope for the lyrics and composition Bai Lian had created in such a short time, seeing as Bai Lian was not a professional.

...
It wasn’t just Sister Xin.

Bai Lian also felt that she might have a generation gap with Sister Xin and the others, unsure whether her aesthetic would be embraced in this era.

She thought for a moment, then said to Sister Xin, “You all go back and listen, and if it really doesn’t suit you, just forget it.”

Bai Lian had learned a diverse array of skills. She studied the guzheng with the top zheng player in Beijing, who had only taught two people at that time.

She and Princess Huai’an were the only students, and the princess learned to play better than her.

Back then, there were too many people who knew how to play the guzheng—talents bloomed everywhere, and they made friends through their playing.

Women were subject to much stricter standards than today, yet Princess Huai’an managed to stand out even at the young age of sixteen.

It was a pity that Princess Huai’an did not finish her studies, as she left the guzheng to Bai Lian when she went to marry into a foreign land alone at eighteen years old.

Later on, Bai Lian also did not complete her studies, as she departed for the battlefield.

Nowadays, many short videos, including those edited by Pu Xiaohan, have covered the historical segment of “Great Yong,” claiming its history cannot be replicated, as flipping through its pages only reveals regrets.

“Xiaolu has to go back tonight to record the song, and she’ll join the crew the day after tomorrow,” Mother Zhang looked at the group of kids in the back yard, “We’ll all have dinner here tonight, everything has been purchased, and Dad Zhang has cleaned everything already.”

Zhang Shize had already left this time, and it was uncertain when everyone would be able to gather like this again.

Bai Lian came back to her senses, “Okay.”

She could now calmly reminisce about these things.

Bai Lian slightly bowed her head, her long lashes partly lowered, as the gentle golden light of the setting sun bathed her, she held her phone, sending a message to both Lance and Ji Heng that she would eat outside and return home late.

Mother Zhang went to the milk tea shop in front to look for Yang Lin and Chi Lu.

Everyone was quite familiar with Chi Yundai.

Especially Weng Qi, who felt like he was about to go find Zhang Shize the moment Chi Lu glanced at him.

Chi Yundai sat on the sofa, tidy and serious, not given to idle chatter.

The others didn’t dare to joke with him, but when they saw Mother Zhang bring out cut fruit, even Chi Yundai, a stickler for order, couldn’t resist any longer.

He stood up to go to the kitchen, shooing Father Zhang and Mother Zhang out.

Chop, chop—a session of slicing.

Father Zhang stood at the kitchen doorway with a knife, watching Chi Yundai meticulously shred cucumber, then hesitantly looked at Mother Zhang, “Did you… did you secretly hire a chef without telling me?”

Mother Zhang smacked Father Zhang on the head, “How many times have I told you, this is Master Chi Lu!”

Father Zhang, “…”

Although Mother Zhang had told him countless times about the impressive deeds of Chi Yundai, but…

Father Zhang looked into the kitchen.

Was this really a proper lawyer?

After dinner, Sister Xin left with Yan Lu.

They had to drive back to Beicheng overnight to record the song.

It wasn’t until they were in the car that Sister Xin had the driver turn on the light in the backseat to look at the two pieces of paper Bai Lian had given her.
