Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 1277: Chapter 523: Qian Yi’s ’Sword Core’!

Thoughts raced through his mind. He wondered what these scratch marks meant.

He chose not to ask Qian Yi. Upon waking up, Qian Yi had already provided its feedback—during the process, it hadn’t felt a thing. It was as if it had been injected with anesthesia, completely losing all sensation in its body. However, this exact lack of sensation made Su Ping feel that his hypothesis was correct. What was wrong was the material—the Ore Vein Edge.

He pondered what the correct material could be. Su Ping recalled all his knowledge regarding Metal Element resources and their various overlapping traits, trying to analyze the underlying reasons that caused Qian Yi to undergo such a change.

At the same time, he turned his head and instructed, ”Bring me all the available Metal Element resources.”

For now, he set aside the problem of integrating the Great Revolution Five Elements Physique into Qian Yi’s main body. Just as he had mentioned before, this step actually wasn’t too difficult. Qian Yi’s control over the Five Elements power and its manipulation of the Five Elements Paper Diagram had already reached the pinnacle of perfection. Once the evolution was confirmed, it could absorb the Five Elements resources into itself. Then, by using Master Zhu’s method to first breed the Five Elements Core, the process would be practically half-complete. For Su Ping, the true challenge lay entirely in this crucial step of Qian Yi’s evolution!

Neither Jian Yue nor Yin Luo disturbed him. A Breeding Master and an Advanced Breeder had been reduced to acting like mere apprentices, silently performing these menial chores. Time slipped by without Su Ping even realizing it.

The entire night was spent with Su Ping continuously having Qian Yi test various Metal Element resources. However, to Su Ping’s bloodshot-eyed frustration, no metallic resource—regardless of its traits—could trigger even the slightest evolutionary fluctuation or spark in Qian Yi under those circumstances. He wondered what on earth the missing piece could be. Had his hypothesis regarding this evolutionary path failed again, just like his previous attempts?

Su Ping couldn’t help but doubt himself once more. Very quickly, however, he crushed that doubt. He refused to do anything that would ruin his own morale.

Just then, as the sky transitioned from night to dawn, Jian Yue finally interrupted Su Ping’s breeding process. She spoke softly, ”Breeder Su, we’ve run out of the Gold Melting Paste.”

Su Ping nodded but didn’t otherwise address it. Instead, he asked, ”Are there any Undead Series metal resources left?”

If he had to point to a single success from the entire night of experiments, it would be the Undead Series metal resource, Netherworld Cold Iron. It had shown some slight reaction, leaving behind more pronounced scratch marks.

Hearing this, the two of them shook their heads.

Su Ping frowned, but quickly suppressed the rising irritation in his chest. After ten minutes of meditation, his anxiety and frustration finally subsided. He cleared his mind once more. It was as if the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas had activated, projecting its simulated space directly into his mind.

Every repeated experiment from the night flashed rapidly through his thoughts. Every subtle change and minute difference was deeply imprinted in his heart. He wondered why the Undead Series resources would yield a different result. Of course, Qian Yi itself belonged to the Undead Series, so an affinity was natural. Even so, why exactly did it happen? Besides, even the Undead Series metal resources had failed to trigger Qian Yi’s transformation. They hadn’t even produced the slightest spark of the Light of Evolution. Ultimately, those results were essentially meaningless.

But now, Su Ping had to get to the very bottom of this anomaly. In that instant, Su Ping felt as though he had finally grasped the missing link! The only defining difference in Undead Series metal resources was that they had been corrupted by the negative soul power of the undead.

Suddenly, Su Ping’s eyes lit up. He knew exactly what resource to use for his next set of experiments.

It was a special ”resource” he had never attempted to use before, even though, in reality, he had come into contact with it quite a few times.
