Even then, his face still gave off a certain gentleness, meaning the image of him did not make him look stern at all.

It could be because she was quite a homebody, but even though the journey was quite moderate in length – not too near nor too distant – it still tired her out.

Xu Moyan yawned. She could not shake off her fatigue as her eyes teared up a little and some of her tears stuck to her eyelashes.

Her voice was a little nasal from being tired as she said, “Jin City might not look far but it’s by no means a short journey. It didn’t feel this way when I was at home, but the moment I came back here and relaxed for a second, my tiredness caught up with me.”

She yawned again after saying this.

Wei Zilin saw that she was really tired and he reached out to wipe away the teardrops on her eyelashes. A warm feeling stirred in his heart when he saw how relaxed she was.

This was because she was treating his house as her own, which was also why she did not feel too confined and was so relaxed.

“Take a nap then. We’ll think about what to get for a meal later when you wake up,” Wei Zilin said. He was already carrying Xu Moyan in his arms.

She was surprised he could pick her up just like that. If Xu Moyan did not feel so tired, then she would have reached out to touch his midsection.

She just knew it would be firm.

Wei Zilin had probably informed Aunt Liu beforehand, which was why she was not around. However, this was now backfiring as Xu Moyan could not muster the energy to cook. Even if they ordered takeaway, she would not be in the mood to eat anything. Thus, she allowed herself to be carried into the room and made no attempts to object.

Wei Zilin carried her onto the bed and did not move.

Xu Moyan opened her eyes curiously as Wei Zilin asked, “Do you need me to help you change into your pajamas?”

Xu Moyan was shocked by the question and immediately sobered up a little. She wrapped herself tightly in the covers and moved further away from him.

“No, I… I can sleep this way,” Xu Moyan wrapped herself up so tightly in the covers that she looked exactly like a cocoon.

Wei Zilin laughed gently as he bent down to give her a kiss on the forehead. “I’m going to the study to do some work. Have a good sleep.”

Xu Moyan knew that he had some work to catch up on after coming back from working outstation. He did not have time to take care of it beforehand as he had accompanied her home to Jin City to visit her parents.

Even so, his voice was gentle and comforting, which made her feel very secure.

As she listened to him, Xu Moyan closed her eyes and immediately drifted off to sleep.

Wei Zilin could not help laughing when he saw how fast she fell asleep. Thus, he lowered his voice as he headed for the study.

…

Xu Moyan slept until it was night-time. When she woke up, she was still in a daze and had no idea what time or day it was.

She looked out at the window into the dark night and saw that there were no stars in the sky. She had no idea what time it was.

Her brain was still fuzzy after having just awoken, so when she heard the room door open, she turned around to look at Wei Zilin with a slightly blank look in her eyes. Wei Zilin was amused to see her like this.

He had woken up next to Xu Moyan before and knew that she was always this way when she woke up. She would always be in a daze and would possibly even anybody who was attempting to kidnap her. This made it the best time to wrap Xu Moyan around his fingers.

Even if he had seen her like this many times before, Wei Zilin still thought that she looked really adorable.

He smiled as he walked over and sat at the bedside. The mattress sank a little when he got on it as he simultaneously rubbed Xu Moyan on her head. “You’ve woken up. Do you want to continue sleeping?”

Xu Moyan sobered up a little as she shook her head clumsily. She was still feeling weak as she fell into Wei Zilin’s arms lazily.

She tried to keep her eyes open, but her eyelids felt heavy such that she did not look like she was completely awake.

Wei Zilin did not move nor push her to wake up. Rather, all he did was caress the back of her head as his other hand gently patted her back. It was like he was trying to coax a child to sleep as he sat there patiently waiting for her to make up her mind.
