Mr. Burns Is Killing His Wife

The teardrop fell on Hamish’s finger. Though it was a cool temperature, he shrank back his hand as if scalded.

His gaze grew uneasy and drifted away. Only then did he notice the blood flowing from the back of Elisa’s hand.

Hamish pressed the bell on the wall and coldly turned away, ”I’m going back. Stay in the hospital yourself, I’ll take you to court to listen to the trial next Wednesday.”

Staring at his retreating back, Elisa suddenly said, ”Hamish, I always thought you weren’t the kind of person who didn’t keep your word. When confirming this matter, your tone was hesitant and trembling.”

Hamish didn’t look back at her. As he pulled open the door and left the ward, he airily said, ”Does Elisa need me to remind her that I’m someone who has lied in front of a priest?”

It was as if all the bones had been removed from her body. Elisa collapsed limply on the bed, with tears continuously streaming down her cheeks, wetting the pillow. At this moment, she was thoroughly awakened to the truth.

Elisa and Hamish’s marriage at the time also caused a sensation. After all, neither family was insignificant, involving two billion dollar companies. In addition to the marriage agreement, the wedding ceremony was also very important.

They held a simple wedding ceremony in front of the media. The priest in the hall solemnly asked, ”Mr. Hamish, are you willing to take care of Miss Elisa for life, love her, cherish her, protect her, for better or worse, in sickness and health?”

That year, Hamish, dressed in a black suit, stood opposite her and said three words - ”I do.” This story is hosted at novelceo(.)com.

So from the very beginning, their marriage was a deception. How could Hamish keep his word to her?

Elisa cried without making a sound, just sobbing and causing pain to shoot through her injured body.

She looked at the needle in her left hand and pulled it out violently as if venting her emotions, throwing it on the ground. The tube dripping with fluid clanged loudly overhead.

The needle on the back of her hand was now completely pulled out, with blood flowing down like water, soon soaking the entire back of her hand.

It hurt a lot, but her heart hurt even more.

For the first time, Elisa bitterly resented her memory for keeping Hamish in her heart for sixteen years. She had recklessly gotten close to him like a moth to flame, shamelessly chasing after him and saying she liked him. She was like a fool for marrying him.

It had all been an act from beginning to end, and she was the only one who had truly gotten into character, becoming the tragic figure. This chapter was taken from NovelCEO without permission.

Now driven to bankruptcy, with everyone laughing at her, those who had mocked her had probably already known the outcome before her. Only she, like an idiot, finally understood - in liking Hamish for sixteen years, how humiliating she had been to herself.

After leaving the ward, Hamish didn’t immediately depart. He leaned against the icy wall outside the door, listening to the muffled sobs coming from the room.

The woman’s suppressed cries were like a sharp blade piercing his eardrum. He involuntarily clenched his fists.

He clearly detested Elisa, so why did he get so angry when he heard her say she wanted a divorce?

Why?

Hamish provided an explanation for himself.

It wasn’t that he cared about Elisa, but purely the possessiveness of a man. In order to better control and torment this hypocritical woman, pretending to be husband and wife on the surface but actually tying her by his side and toying with her like a plaything!

Hamish lowered his eyelids, his expression no longer showing the previous irritation. The sinister look in his dark eyes receded to calmness, the black pupils deep and unfathomable like the stillness after a storm.

Hamish lingered for a while. Seeing the nurse arrive, he relaxed his clenched fist, straightened up, and left.
