Reborn in the 80s: The Smart Wife with a Secret Space

Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Punish Both Sides Equally

Yao Hui left the Yao Family with the five eggs handed to her by her sister-in-law, thinking to herself: Clearly, these eggs from Second Aunt should be mine, but instead, they became a subsidy from my maternal home to me.

Thinking of her cousin Song Limin made her even more displeased, and she muttered under her breath, ”Such a busybody.”

When she got home holding the eggs, Lyu Xiangyang was shouting in the yard, ”When will we finally eat? I’m starving to death.”

And inside the house, Lyu Xiangran was crying again, ”Second Brother, you owe me candy. I hate you.”

Before Yao Hui even stepped inside, her head already felt heavy. Looking at the eggs in her hand, she really wanted to turn around and leave.

While hesitating, Lyu Xiangyang saw Yao Hui in the yard, ”Auntie, why are you standing outside? Hurry up and cook, we’re all starving.”

Hearing Lyu Xiangyang’s words, Yao Hui’s anger flared up: ”You didn’t starve before I came. If I’m not around, you still have your dad. Go find him.”

After saying this, she ignored Lyu Xiangyang and headed straight into the house.

Lyu Xiangyang didn’t care about her tone; he was now staring at the eggs in Yao Hui’s hand with bright eyes, ”Auntie, I want to eat eggs.”

Yao Hui had no intention of letting them have it so easily, ”Eat, eat, eat. What’s there to eat? These were given to me by your great-aunt. There’s none for you.”

Upon hearing this, Lyu Xiangyang was displeased: ”You’re lying. You’re not a child. Great-aunt wouldn’t give them to you. I want to eat.”

He didn’t care for whom the eggs were meant; he just wanted to eat them now, and he reached out to grab them.

Naturally, Yao Hui wouldn’t agree and dodged his hand, heading toward the house.

Lyu Xiangyang wasn’t about to let it go. The food at home had been subpar lately, and eggs, a luxury, hadn’t been eaten in days. He chased after Yao Hui into the house, ”Give me the eggs.”

Whatever happened inside, it was predictable. Soon, there was Yao Hui’s sharp scream, ”Ah.”

Followed by, ”My eggs, Lyu Xiangyang, you madman.”

Her shout stopped Lyu Xiangran’s cries, but seeing the broken eggs on the floor, he cried even louder, ”The eggs are broken. Bad Auntie, bad Big Brother.”

Lyu Juncheng, who had borrowed a bowl of lard from the Tian Family next door, was feeling slightly better, but the shouting, crying, and cursing at home almost drove him mad with anger again.

He put down the lard and hurried into the house, ”What’s going on now?”

Yao Hui was still furious, ”Ask your son, see what good he’s done?”

As she spoke, she pointed to the floor.

Lyu Juncheng saw the broken eggs on the floor, ”Where did the eggs come from?”

Yao Hui’s voice was tinged with a sob, but she was uncharacteristically clever this time, ”Mom felt sorry for us and gave us some eggs. I was planning to mix them with chives for filling tomorrow to make some buns, you know, to improve our meals. But now, forget it, no one will eat them.”

Lyu Xiangyang knew he messed up, but he stubbornly said, ”Either way, they would be eaten. What’s the difference if we eat them today or tomorrow? Besides, you didn’t say we’d eat buns tomorrow, and earlier, you even said there wasn’t a share for me. Maybe you just wanted to have them all to yourself.”

Yao Hui was furious, ”Lyu Xiangyang, you’re so young and already making things up and wronging people, what’s going to happen when you grow up?”

Then she glared at Lyu Juncheng, ”Control your son, talking like that just for a bite to eat?”

Lyu Juncheng had a terrible headache. Recently, nothing seemed to go right. He had finally managed to adjust his mindset, but then news came from his hometown that his little sister was getting married next month. The most infuriating part was that his mother specifically wrote in the letter that he, as the third brother, must prepare a decent dowry for his only sister.

But given his current situation, how could he manage that? And he couldn’t dare tell the family. If people back home found out he lost his team leader position, who knows what might happen?

Neither Lyu Xiangyang nor Yao Hui wanted to back down; they glared at each other angrily.

To prevent the neighbors from watching the drama, Lyu Juncheng decided to resolve the situation by punishing both equally: ”Alright, it happened, and we can’t beat him to death over a few eggs. I’ll have him apologize to you. You too, you could’ve explained it to him. If you had made it clear, he wouldn’t have been so reckless.”
