Sleepless Hearts

”Of course, my love I know that I am sick. S. I. C. K spells sick and girls have been shouting this thing at me so much that it has got pinned right on the top of my Cerebrum. But you know at this moment, I wouldn’t have even liked you to feel any other emotion for me, other than hate and rage and if you are feeling so, I am so glad to tell you that you have a spine”. I complimented her regardless of the situation we were in. Her eyes literally popped out of her sockets, while she was gaping at me like I was some alien.

”Why shocked babe? I am no stupid to not appreciate your guts to keep your stand Infront of me because you know I am me, I am not a normal man who will enjoy inflicting orders on you and then you giving in without a fight. That will be so cliche and dumb scene in our love story, isn’t it honey?” I added with my eyes twinkling in mischief. I knew I have sent her in a state of absolute shock and surprise and there was no coming out of it soon.

My new confidence, acceptance, and determination were frustrating her and that’s the way it should be.

”What the hell you are rubbishing? You don’t even make one ounce of sense to me”. She yelled holding her head with one palm.

”Honey, even you didn’t make sense to me when you broke up with me, but you see that breakup isn’t valid, because I don’t accept it. So now you will do as per my wish or else…

Her eyes got fixated on me waiting for me to complete the words, but I was taking in her every expression keenly.

”You what?” She asked almost in a whisper as if she was already imagining the worst.

”I will eat the rat poison; because if this rat can’t have his favorite cheese, then he will be trapped in the cage forever. So, you have today’s day to think, and If your answer is yes, then reach the Church at 11 in the morning, otherwise my death news will reach you by 11:30 positively.”

I challenged her or more like threatened her with my life while she stood there gaping at me with a horror-struck look as if she thought, she was in some kind of hallucination. She didn’t manage to form words to argue at that moment, while I saw her body had started to shiver a little, but I couldn’t comfort her.

”Nathan, come on let’s go.” I called for my boy, picking up my jacket and shirt. In seconds I was back in clothes while Nathan came running to me, straight away jumping in my arms excitedly.

A smile started to play at the corner of my lips witnessing the glow in his innocent eyes. Peeking a side glance at Serena I can see, she was still standing in a daze, trying to feel the honesty in my words.

”Baby, you go out. I’ll join you in a minute.” Putting him down I instructed him, and nodding he ran out leaving us alone again.

Moving closer to Serena, I bit her earlobe making her wince, while she looked in pain but so was I. A strong pain that was killing me from inside.

”Don’t make me wait for too long, darling. You know I say what I am capable of doing.” I reminded her and once again, kissing her forehead, I made my way out of her house with a smirk plastered on my lips; leaving her standing there perplexed completely.

Texting on my phone to the person, who was helping me as well in my ploy, I joined Nathan who was waiting for the lift.

The whole ride down to the ground floor and then to my, hotel my mind was filled with questions, and the answer was only with my girl.

She wouldn’t have thought that I was capable of doing such things too, but she had no idea that after all my loss, the only thing I craved was: Love. Her love had the power to do such things to me that I can never describe the extent of it in words.

With my mind in a fuzzy of thoughts, the day and night passed in a blink, and as the morning came, I already found myself standing in the church waiting for the clock to strike 11.

Nathan was dressed in a black tuxedo looking as handsome as ever while I stood in my black suit as well, matching Nathan perfectly. In a way, he was my miniature version.

The father was confused and was staring at me in complete bewilderment because I haven’t given him any information regarding the bride’s arrival, but I knew that she would come.

And there she came as soon as the hands of the clock came on 11.

Dressed in a white dress looking as radiant as ever, she walked with grace towards me while there was no shine in her eyes. They were filled with pain, agony, and unsaid words. Her eyes were swollen as she came closer to me and I knew right there that what I have planned is the right thing to do.
