Watching his mother ramble on, Huo Jingrui couldn’t help but curl the corners of his mouth into a smile. His mother liked to cook but truly lacked the talent for it, a fact well-known throughout the compound.

Jiang Jingya served her son a bowl and said, ”Son, drink it while it’s hot. It’ll taste fishy once it cools.”

As her son took the bowl, Jiang Jingya sat down next to him. ”Son, I’ve asked the doctor. After you’re discharged this time, you’ll need to rest for a while before you can return to the troop.”

Before she could finish, Huo Jingrui interrupted her, ”Mom, just get to the point.”

Jiang Jingya’s eyes twinkled with amusement. ”My son is so clever.”

She cleared her throat softly. ”In the compound, those around your age already have children running all over the place. I’m not trying to push you, but if you don’t hurry up, all the good girls will be taken.”

She kept an eye on her son’s reaction as she said, ”Why not use this time to go on some blind dates? You might find someone who catches your eye. What do you think?”

Huo Jingrui remained silent, but when his mother brought up matchmaking, he couldn’t help but think of the girl who had saved him that day. He felt like he had seen her somewhere before but just couldn’t remember. Jiang Jingya knew when to stop. Seeing her son’s mood change, she didn’t continue.

Yunyi awoke early and tidily packed away her bedding. After clearing the table, she took her washbasin and stepped out of the room.

Sleeping on the table was truly awful, not to mention the snoring in the room. If it hadn’t been for the constant lack of free time since she’d arrived, she probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep at all.
