Ministers Begging Me to Ascend the Throne

Chapter 1123: Chapter 142: Prince Chu’s Worries (3)

Yang Ling noticed Prince Chu’s expression change and quickly asked, ”Your Highness, what are you thinking about?”

Prince Chu replied, ”The matter of Consort Shu and Princess Consort De is likely related to Prince Han not returning to the capital at the end of the year and the assassination attempt on my tenth brother.”

”Your Highness, do you suspect that Consort Shu and Princess Consort De are in league with each other?”

”It seems very likely now, otherwise Father wouldn’t be investigating the connections between Consort Shu and Princess Consort De.”

Yang Ling’s expression suddenly became very serious, ”Your Highness, I fear that Prince Han has learned something he cannot disclose.”

”It must be.” Prince Chu felt a bit angry at the thought of Zhao Yao keeping secrets from him, ”Such a serious matter, yet my tenth brother keeps it from me.”

”You encountered an assassination attempt the last time you returned to the capital. If it weren’t for Prince Han having someone impersonate you, you might not have made it back. Prince Han probably thought of this and kept it from you to prevent you from being targeted again by Prince Han and the Xun Family.” Yang Ling sighed internally, truly feeling the strong bond between Prince Han and Prince Chu.

”I guess that’s the case.” Knowing this made Prince Chu even more upset.

”Your Highness, Prince Han is clever and resourceful, with people skilled in disguise around him. I guess Prince Han would have someone impersonate him while he disguises himself as an ordinary person to sneak back on a different route, just like you did when you returned to the capital.”

”If that’s the case, then I’m relieved.”

”Your Highness, Prince Han surely knows that Prince Han will send someone to assassinate him, so he must have taken precautions.” Yang Ling comforted Prince Chu, ”I believe Prince Han will safely and smoothly return to the capital.”

Hearing Yang Ling’s words, Prince Chu felt much more at ease.

”When he returns, we must give him a good talking to.”

”Your Highness, I’m now worried that Prince Han might do something crazy and rebellious.”

Prince Chu nodded slightly, ”It’s very possible, but he won’t succeed.”

Yang Ling asked in confusion, ”Why?”

”General Chu is at the Northern Border Camp.” Prince Chu finally understood why the Emperor left Chu Ying at the Northern Border Camp.

”Your Highness, have you forgotten about Prince Dai?” Yang Ling expressed concern, ”What if Prince Dai and Prince Han collaborate from inside and out?”

”Even if Prince Dai and Prince Han collaborate, it won’t succeed.” Prince Chu smiled slightly, ”Not to mention Father, but just speaking of General Song and the others by Father’s side, although Prince Dai has often led troops and fought outside in recent years, he still falls short compared to General Song and the others.”

Yang Ling suddenly remembered General Song and the others, ”Your Highness, you have a good point.”

Prince Chu continued, ”Moreover, I don’t believe Prince Dai would be foolish enough to cooperate with Prince Han.”

”Isn’t Prince Dai infatuated with the woman sent by Prince Han?” Yang Ling exclaimed in surprise, ”Your Highness, you think Prince Dai is pretending.”

”Hmm, Prince Dai couldn’t be that foolish.” Prince Chu analyzed, ”What benefit would he gain by cooperating with Prince Han?”

”If Prince Dai is pretending to be infatuated, then Prince Han is finished.”

”He’s already finished.” The thought of Prince Han wanting to kill Zhao Yao left Prince Chu with a frosty expression.

”If it weren’t for Prince Han noticing Prince Han’s odd behavior, we would all be fooled by Prince Han right now.” Thankfully, Prince Han stands with Prince Chu. If Prince Han were Prince Chu’s enemy, Prince Chu would be no match for Prince Han.

Previously, he always thought Prince Chu was the most outstanding among the princes, but now it seems that Prince Han is the most exceptional one; whether in mind or means, he is extremely outstanding.

Prince Han is only seventeen, yet he has such unfathomable schemes and methods. Truly... if he were an enemy, it would be terrifying.
