Ministers Begging Me to Ascend the Throne

Chapter 651: Chapter 319 Dragon Guards_4

Sun Doudou, who was guarding the East Warm Pavilion, was startled when the Hidden Guard A appeared mysteriously. He muttered in his heart, what exactly is the identity of this person, appearing mysteriously every time. Moreover, this person never needs an announcement to enter or exit Chengguang Hall. There’s also something very strange; he has only seen this person in Chengguang Hall and never elsewhere.

Sun Kui, upon seeing the appearance of Hidden Guard A, was immediately jolted awake from his nap. Every time Hidden Guard A appeared, it definitely signified a major event was happening.

Hidden Guard A delivered a secret letter to Sun Kui. Sun Kui took it and respectfully presented it to the Emperor.

The Emperor took the letter, glanced at it, and then chuckled softly, ”This brat is rather sharp.” The letter mentioned that Zhao Yao discovered that the Crown Prince and Prince Dai’s people were up to something in Jiangnan. ”Worthy of being my son.”

Seeing the Emperor’s face full of pride and satisfaction as he spoke, Sun Kui was very curious about what the tenth prince was doing in Jiangnan.

Hidden Guard A respectfully asked, ”Your Majesty, what should we do next?”

”Do not interfere with matters over there in Jiangnan, continue to keep an eye on them,” the Emperor instructed, ”As for that brat Little Ten, let them follow him closely.”

Hidden Guard A thought for a moment and asked, ”If the tenth prince intervenes in the Jiangnan affairs, what should we do?”

”That brat Little Ten is very clever; unless he’s forced into it, he would never meddle in unnecessary matters,” the Emperor, understanding his youngest son’s nature quite well, said, ”If the brat is unlucky enough to get involved, then let him cause a stir and see how far he goes.”

Hidden Guard A was a bit taken aback by the Emperor’s words. Although his expression did not change, an odd feeling welled up in his heart.

”Your Majesty, didn’t you say not to alert the enemy earlier? If the tenth prince is dragged into this, he’s sure to startle them.”

”The Crown Prince and the second prince don’t take Little Ten seriously; even if he stirs things up, it won’t alert them.”

”But if that’s the case, the tenth prince will be in danger.” With the methods of the Crown Prince and Prince Dai, they absolutely wouldn’t let the tenth prince return alive from Jiangnan.

”The brat has lived too comfortably for too long; it’s time he understands what danger is.” The Emperor, holding a memorial, gently tapped his left palm, ”Tell them to save Little Ten once he’s in danger and can’t rescue himself.”

Hidden Guard A dutifully responded, ”Yes.”

”Keep a close watch on the imperial examinations in Jiangnan as well,” the Emperor’s tone suddenly became very serious, ”I will not allow the officials in Jiangnan to sabotage the imperial examinations.”

”Yes, Your Majesty.”

Having no other matters to instruct, the Emperor waved to Hidden Guard A, signaling him to withdraw.

After Hidden Guard A withdrew, that night, four hidden guards around Zhao Yao received the Emperor’s orders.

”The Emperor said to rescue the prince only when he’s in danger and can’t save himself. What if the prince gets injured?” The one who spoke had a slightly lively tone. Although his face was covered, making his expression hard to see, his tone and lively eyes revealed that he wasn’t a dull or rigid person.

”If the prince is seriously injured but not in mortal danger, do we rescue him?” The speaker had a somewhat low tone, and his exposed eyes were calm and unruffled.

These two questions stumped their leader. He was silent for a moment before saying, ”We’ll still follow the Emperor’s orders.”

”Boss, do you mean we wait until the prince is on his last breath to rescue him?”

”Boss, what if the prince is on his last breath, but something unexpected happens during our rescue?”

”Big Brother, let’s rescue the prince as soon as he’s injured,” said the lively Hidden Guard, ”I can’t bear to let the prince be on his last breath.”

In sleep, Zhao Yao suddenly felt a chill, so cold that he couldn’t help but shiver. He instinctively reached out his hands to hold himself tightly.
