Having An Affair, Hattie's Tear

There was silence. John looked at his wife who was in shock. Wendy’s tears burst when she looked at the coffin.

”Aren’t you going to see Hattie? Today is her wedding day and she wanted your blessings”, he said, ”or are you still disregard her as your daughter?” Wendy quivered as she looked at her daughter’s face, ”Hattie, my daughter”. She realized that she deserved death instead of her daughter. Her emotions fired up with the thought of losing the daughter she disregarded her whole life. There was silence again. The priest couldn’t endure his emotions while watching the scene, even the people of Jennings were in shock.

He cleared his thoughts and told Isaac, ”Shall we continue?”

”Yes”, he said while fixing his tie, ”It’s time for us to get married”. ......

”I am telling you, I will not allow that woman to be buried on the family’s grave”. Robert was shaking in anger. Wendy stared at Robert.

”Father, is this some kind of a joke? Hattie is not dead. What grave are you saying?” he seriously replied. Robert can’t do anything but watch his son walked in the aisle while carrying Hattie’s body to the wedding hall.

”Isaac”, the old housekeeper said, ”What your father wants is for you to get married to Jenny”.

”No! She killed Hattie. A criminal does not deserve to be part of the family!”, Isaac angrily said. Two men in a suit immediately entered the wedding hall and tranquilized him. He immediately lost consciousness.

”Take the body of that woman and burn it!” Robert ordered the men.

”What are we going to do if he wakes up and realized the body was burned? I am worried he will hate you”, the old housekeeper said.

”I don’t care! What he did is a disgrace to the family. He is crazy!” Robert was in distress. The body was cremated right away. He ordered this to prevent the people from burying it in the family grave. The ashes were thrown away and filled the urn with something else. Isaac woke up. It was not long when he came into his senses. The urn was right beside him ”Hattie”. He looked at the urn.

”Hattie”. Isaac went closer to the urn and whispered her name again.

”Hattie”.

”Isaac”, the old housekeeper approached him. He felt sad for him.

”Hattie will be devastated to see you like that. She dedicated her life to you. I am sure she is now in a good place”, he added. Isaac didn’t seem to hear what the old housekeeper said. He called her name repeatedly. He felt like his heart died with her.

”Let him be!” Robert told the housekeeper.

”If he likes to be with it, then be with it! I would not let that urn enter my house!” he angrily said. It was already dark when Isaac decided to go home. Robert almost lost his consciousness when he saw his son holding the ashes with his bare hands. There was mud all over his clothes and his nails were covered with blood. He broke the urn with his bare hands. His blood started to drop to the white marble floor. He couldn’t feel any pain. The only thing he cared about was the ashes on his hands.

”Hattie, don’t be afraid. I am taking you home”, he said. Robert was shocked. He chose not to say a word or he may lose his son forever.
