The Useless Miracle Doctor Consort Is Spoiled Rotten by the Prince!

Chapter 1197: Chapter 1193: Xiao Hui’s Death Sentence

He had never guarded against Xiao Qingyu, thinking that he would help him conceal the truth and smooth things over; he never expected him to betray him!

Not even his own brother would help him!

Xiao Hui’s eyes reddened with rage as he pinned Xiao Qingyu to the ground, a fist smashing towards his face, “Xiao Qingyu, you traitor! I’ll kill you!”

Now that Xiao Qingyu had betrayed him, his death sentence was undoubtedly sealed!

Wang Jingzhi and the emperor would certainly not let him off!

“Bring people to restrain him! How dare he be so insolent in the court!”

...
Wang Jingzhi hastily waved his hand to command people to separate them, and two bailiffs used planks to pin Xiao Hui to the ground. Xiao Hui’s eyes were bloodshot, and he kept mumbling about wanting to kill Xiao Qingyu.

In contrast, Xiao Qingyu, also a young master of the Xiao family, though younger than Xiao Hui, possessed a composure that far exceeded his brother’s; even with his mouth corner bruised from the beating, he remained unfazed.

It wasn’t until Wang Jingzhi declared the sentence, “Xiao Hui, with premeditated murder and intent to harm, the evidence is conclusive. In accordance with the laws of the Great Cheng Dynasty, this official hereby sentences Xiao Hui to be beheaded immediately!”

Xiao Hui struggled furiously on the ground, filled with unwillingness. Alas, no matter how much he struggled, he could only be taken away to be detained.

As the crowd dispersed, Wang Jingzhi took Wang Yun to the back hall; Wang Weiran’s body had already been properly prepared. He said, “Now that the case is closed, you can bury your esteemed father so he may rest in peace.”

Kneeling before Wang Jingzhi, Wang Yun could not stop crying, “Humble girl… I thank you, Lord Prefect, for seeking justice for me! Thank you, Lord Prefect!”

Wang Jingzhi helped her up, comforting her, “As a woman, it is exceedingly brave of you to seek revenge for your father. However, for this matter, you must also thank the emperor. Without his wise and divine judgment, this case would not have been resolved so smoothly.”

If it hadn’t been for Chu Yihan presiding over the trial, just exhuming Wang Weiran’s body would have been difficult, let alone having Xiao Qingyu voluntarily testify against Xiao Hui.

Xiao Qingyu is Xiao Hui’s own younger brother!

Wang Jingzhi knew very well that he was incapable of accomplishing this.

Wang Yun had her family take her father’s coffin back immediately, to lay in state at home until they chose a suitable day for a proper burial.

She expressed her wish to thank Chu Yihan for his imperial grace.

Seeing her eagerness to show gratitude, Wang Jingzhi took her to meet Chu Yihan, but Chu Yihan had already left Yangzhou Prefecture and returned to Song Garden.

Wang Yun felt regretful and wanted to inquire about Chu Yihan’s residence, but after hesitating for a while, she never managed to ask.

She, a mere commoner, inquiring about the residence of the emperor, could easily have been mistaken for having ulterior motives and be executed without a question.

With her worries in her heart, she returned home.

The Wang Family estate had been a scene of chaos ever since the trial began.

When Wang Yun returned, Mrs. Meng was anxiously pacing back and forth at home. Seeing Wang Yun, she rushed to greet her, “My daughter! You’re finally back! If you had not returned, your brother would have…”

“What would he have done? Killed me or sold me?” Wang Yun, her eyes red with anger, told her mother, “Mother, I have avenged Father. He was killed by Xiao Hui. Today, the emperor made a sagacious decree sentencing Xiao Hui to death. Xiao Hui will no longer be able to commit crimes and harm others! Father’s spirit in heaven will also be consoled.”

“Your father was… killed by Xiao Hui?”

Upon learning the truth, Mrs. Meng was exceedingly shocked and filled with regret for not having supported Wang Yun’s action. Overcome with emotions and regret, she wasn’t able to eat her dinner.
