Su Yingxue was aware of this, but with the people from the palace summoning Su Dingheng to the Imperial Medical Academy under the pretext of a follow-up examination, could she stop him?

Now, it seemed that her father was comfortably sitting here, and she was late. However, it couldn’t be considered that he did not inform her!

Even if she spoke up, no one would believe her.

Su Yingxue raised her head and saw Han Yuwen’s eyes filled with pride, looking at her with disdain, as if she were an insignificant ant.

Su Dingheng had initially wanted to step forward to plead for Su Yingxue, but Su Yurou forcefully pulled him back. “Father, your health hasn’t fully recovered. Sit down and rest.”

“Rest for what? Your sister is being accused, and 1 need to explain to her. Perhaps the people from the palace forgot to send the message to the residence?”

Although Su Dingheng was just a civilian official and physically frail, having spent many years in the political arena, how could he not realize that Su Yingxue was being deliberately targeted?

If he spoke up for her now, it might resolve the situation.

But would Su Yurou allow him to go and smooth things over?

Impossible!

Using the excuse of taking care of him, Su Yurou had positioned herself beside him to prevent him. She whispered to Su Dingheng, “Father, Grandpa hasn’t returned yet, and brother is guarding the border. Apart from my sister, you only have me. Even if you go and plead for sister today, she might not be able to escape the empress’s punishment! If she can’t avoid it, the Marquis’s Manor won’t be able to withstand it with just you!”

Su Yurou’s words were threatening, and how could Su Dingheng not understand?

However, since the surgery, his body was genuinely weak. He would be out of breath after just a few steps.

Now, Su Yurou’s words had struck his weak point. If he couldn’t save Su Yingxue, he would also be implicated. Then, what would happen to the Marquis’s Manor?

What if he was implicated because of Su Yingxue?

Su Dingheng sighed softly and sat down with his head lowered.

Su Yingxue glanced at him and wasn’t disappointed to see that he didn’t move.

However, Su Yurou looked at her provocatively, and she glared back fiercely.

Su Yurou’s heart skipped a beat. She clutched her chest and gritted her teeth. “Su Yingxue! What are you so smug about?!”

She would meet a miserable end today!

“Emperor, Empress, I did not receive any notice from the palace, so 1 entered the palace at the usual time,” Su Yingxue explained calmly.

She was composed and showed no signs of panic, making her quite convincing.

It seemed that the person wanting to blame her was a bit intentional.

“Do you think you can save the emperor’s and empress’s dignity, as well as ours, with just one explanation? Su Yingxue, you’re quite audacious.” Han Yuwen taunted, pinning Su Yingxue with the charge of disrespecting the Emperor and Empress.

Su Yingxue knew that arguing with her was futile.

She wanted the empress to be convinced and not blame her.

But at this moment, someone stepped forward to plead for her.

“Your Majesty, Miss Su didn’t mean to be late. She probably wasn’t informed.” Lin Sisi knelt beside Su Yingxue and expressed her feelings.

“Lin Sisi, are you saying that 1 deliberately arranged this and neglected Su Yingxue?” The empress asked sternly.

“I didn’t mean that. It’s just that Miss Su has always been cautious and respects the emperor and empress. As a female envoy, she is even more diligent in receiving envoys. I hope that the empress can understand and not wrongly accuse Miss Su.”

Lin Sisi was an honest person and spoke frankly.

“What is your status? If you were a proper person, you wouldn’t be afraid to show your face.. You and Su Yingxue, one late and the other masked, I’m afraid you’ve already discussed it and violated the palace rules together, right?”
