Chapter 198: The Arrogant Gu Ruxue

Chen Fu thought so too.

Although Lord Ling had not come with the formal proposal, the ambassador of Lord Ling had already had words with the Old Master, so the whole thing should be confirmed already. The Second Lady was definitely going to become rich and successful in the future. The housekeeper from the Jiang Mansion must be here for the sake of the Second Lady. It was the first time for the Gu Mansion to receive someone like that!

As he was thinking what Madam Gu was saying, Chen Fu hurried to Begonia Yard.

Chen Fu did not dare to panic as he came to Begonia Yard. He knew that the Second Lady did not have a good temper, so he said calmly, “Second Lady, the housekeeper of the Jiang Mansion is here. Madam Gu asks you to receive them.”

Gu Ruxue was just in the middle of eating lychees. Hearing what Chen Fu said, she thought nonchalantly and asked, “What housekeeper from which Jiang Mansion? It can’t be the Queen’s right?”

Gu Ruxue did not think that it would be that Jiang Mansion, so she was not in a hurry at all. She peeled one more lychee into her mouth during the interval.

The lychees from the south were very expensive. If she were not going to marry Lord Ling, she would not have been able to taste this at all. So Gu Ruxue was indeed satisfied.

“It is the Jiang Mansion from the Queen’s family.” Chen Fu replied. He was in a hurry, but he did not dare to show the anxiety in front of the Second Lady.

“What!” Gu Ruxue was startled. She put down the lychee and stood up all of a sudden.

She threw a glare at Chen Fu. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? You are just a servant and you are never going to take responsibility for the delay!” She said displeased, as she started to walk outside Begonia Yard.

The housekeeper of the Gu Mansion was getting worse.

The Gu Mansion used to have very few guests, and such a bad housekeeper would be enough, but the Gu Mansion was different nowadays, and such a terrible housekeeper like Chen Fu would not do! He would ruin everything. Gu Ruxue thought inwardly.

So she decided to discuss with father about replacing the housekeeper.

She looked very furious. However, as she came to the front yard, her fury was gone. Instead, she showed a very gentle and friendly smile and walked into the hall. Then she showed an even brighter smile as she saw the expensive gifts. It seemed that Lord Ling was indeed in a high position. Even the Jiang Mansion was trying to flatter her. That surprised her a little bit.

Madame Gu waved at Gu Ruxue with a smile and said, “Ruxue, come, this is the housekeeper of the Jiang Mansion.”

Gu Ruxue smiled brightly. With her eyes upon the housekeeper, she said politely, “You are just way too friendly. A visit here will do, those gifts are not necessary.”

“These are selected personally by our madame, just a heartfelt thankfulness from us.” The housekeeper of the Jiang Mansion said courteously and asked the staff to open the boxes.

Gu Ruxue’s eyes widened as she saw the sparkling stuff.

These were indeed precious gifts!

Those jewelries were not at all available at the jewelry store of the capital city, and were even better than those used by Princess Gu. There was no doubt that these were from the court!

Madame Jiang was indeed friendly. She knew that she was going to marry Lord Ling so she offered her those jewelry to match her future position.

Gu Ruxues said excitedly, “Rong, bring these to Begonia Yard. Thank you so much Madame Jiang, you are way too friendly. Please pass on my gratitude to Madame Jiang!”
