Javier quietly swallowed hard.

Mimi and Delya stood frozen, feeling like tiny mice surrounded by a hundred hunting cats.

Mrs. Erinette’s voice was steady and calm, but carried an undeniable authority. “I know, Young Master,” she said, her sharp gaze fixed on Javier. “You could easily defeat all these maids if you wanted. You could even fight me directly.”
