Transmigrated as the Ex-Wife of a Heroic Man

Chapter 1216: Chapter 1216: The Inner World of Lu Jianan

The two parted ways at the fork in the road, with Lu Jianan heading home. From a distance, near the courtyard wall, he saw a familiar figure and, upon closer inspection, he recognized it to be Song Zishan.

“Why are you here?” Lu Jianan scrutinized Song Zishan’s face, and although she wore a hat and mask and was in a turtleneck sweater, he could still make out the bruises on her face.

“Jianan, you’re here, that’s great, I was looking for you!” Song Zishan excitedly grabbed Lu Jianan’s arm, “You have to help me get revenge, help me vent. I want to kill Su Wen, I can’t swallow this feeling unless she’s dead.”

Lu Jianan’s heart skipped a beat and he violently shook off Song Zishan’s hand, “Are you crazy?”

“I’m not crazy, I’m very calm.” Song Zishan, after being shaken off, also calmed down and stared coldly at Lu Jianan.

“What? You don’t want to? I haven’t seen anyone since I came back from the Province. I haven’t even been home; I came straight to you,” Song Zishan’s voice rose. “You’ve already betrayed me once, do you want to betray me again?”

“How did I betray you?”

“Heh!” Song Zishan scoffed, her eyes dark and chilling.

“You know very well. You want to be friends with Su Wen, you admire her, like her. Am I wrong? Although you keep telling me that you won’t associate with her, your heart thinks otherwise.”

Lu Jianan was taken aback and fell silent for a long time.

“So I’m right? Anyway, Su Wen has screwed me over this time, everyone’s talking. But so what? I am still me.” Song Zishan lifted her chin proudly, looking down at Lu Jianan with disdain.

“Do you know why I’m angry? Because you lied to me. What you promised me and what you really think in your heart are completely different. I’d rather you told me straight up, said that you admire Su Wen, said that I am me, and she is she. But you didn’t. You were aggrieved, you accommodated, all while I thought I was making selfless sacrifices for you.”

“That’s not true.” Lu Jianan’s voice became weaker, even she felt a lack of conviction.

“Whether it is or isn’t, you know in your heart. Deep down, you must be touched by my devotion over the years, right? Think you’re noble? My willfulness and arrogance must have highlighted your cleverness and wisdom, haven’t they?”

“I…” Lu Jianan stumbled backward, her mind a tangled mess.

Song Zishan’s words struck her heart like a sharp knife, forcefully exposing wounds she had never realized were hidden deep inside.

Her thoughts were chaotically spinning; she didn’t want to admit it, instinctively feeling it wasn’t true.

Yet Song Zishan’s words were so piercing that she couldn’t bear them.

“I bet everyone is saying how amazing you are now, my former reputation was your diligent work. Maybe even my Big Brother sees you in a new light, Xu Junfeng and Xu Xiyi probably think highly of you too, right? You’re successful now, you’ve gained their approval, and you can be the winner in life.”

“It’s not like that, it’s not like that.”

“Then how is it?”

“I…”

“Can’t say it, can you?” Song Zishan scoffed, interrupting with a look that was ominous and frightening, “Once you left me, I became a discarded pawn, you must feel so proud, right?”

“No, it’s not like that, I… I’m really worried.”

“No, no, no.” Song Zishan shook her head, “You’re glad, because you feel free. From now on, you can get rid of me, the person who’s standing in your way, the annoyance in your sight.”
