Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 2097: Chapter 2091: I Have No Money

”You’re right, I’m not used to it either.” Qin Xue wasn’t really fond of the new place. Having lived here for so long, she had met some people. Sometimes their questions were really tricky—answering them didn’t feel right, but not answering seemed impolite. So Qin Xue didn’t really like joining those groups over there.

”By the way, have you bought a house recently?” Qing Zhu remembered when Chu Molin asked Ye Xuan to buy a wedding house at Qin Xue’s place.

”Yeah, I bought two. One is the one we went to see this morning, and the other is at that newly developed area’s XX street. Do you want to join? We could live together and look out for each other.” Qin Xue asked Qing Zhu.

”I want to buy one, but I don’t have any money. I’ll wait until I sort things out before I go ahead.” Qing Zhu hadn’t even gone back to check on her shop yet; she was really broke at the moment.

”Oh, I forgot.” Hearing Qing Zhu say that, Qin Xue suddenly remembered they were no longer in the 21st century, and they weren’t the rich people they used to be. Back then, they had no worries about food and clothing, but they definitely couldn’t just buy a bunch of houses at will, because houses were really expensive then. If they wanted to buy good ones, they couldn’t even afford someone else’s bathroom.

Yet, they could afford two or three ordinary apartments. They lived a middle-class life back then. After all, a small apartment only cost US$ 200,000 to US$ 300,000, more than enough for one person.

If Qing Zhu heard Qin Xue’s thoughts, she would definitely slap her. Why buy so many, when US$ 30,000 was enough for a 45 or 50 square meter house? Wouldn’t it be better to use the money for traveling?

Life is short, just a few decades. If you don’t enjoy it, you can’t take the money to the grave. Why make life so hard on yourself?

”Sure, with the current house prices, you can buy a few and sell them in a few years to make a fortune. Especially with the kind of courtyard you’re living in now, they won’t be accessible even to the wealthy in the future.” Qing Zhu was well aware, but also noted that buying still required money. Money wasn’t as easy to earn as it would be in the future, but it was still valuable and couldn’t be taken out so casually.

That’s why some elderly people in the future say, decades ago, US$ 100 could feed a family for a long time. Now, US$ 100 isn’t even enough for a decent breakfast, let alone feeding a family.

This is currency devaluation. Who knows, in a few years’ time, would money become as worthless as white paper? In the future, would you need to use sacks of cash just to buy groceries after mobile payments became obsolete?

But despite the devaluation, the convenience of the internet was fortunate. Before they came here, they never carried cash, just their phone or a credit card, which shows the advantages of rapid technological development.

”It’s true, so see if there’s a way to get the money to buy a place now. You can get one for just a few thousand dollars, and the bigger ones only cost slightly more than US$ 10,000. Once you buy it, even if nothing else, you’d become a wealthy woman once there’s a relocation.” Qin Xue would buy adjacent properties if she had the money; then she’d never have to worry about funds again.

”I don’t have money, but that guy might. Maybe he could buy one, but what reason could I use to convince him it’s a sure profit? What if he doesn’t believe me?” Qing Zhu hadn’t returned to her shop to see if it was making money over the year, but Ye Xuan should have some, right?

”Like Chu Molin said, just buy it as a wedding house. He’d definitely be willing.” Qin Xue offered the idea without thinking twice.
