“You must be hungry. Come, let’s eat.” Qin Lei handed the chopsticks to his wife before picking up his own bowl. He was glad that he was there to help his wife, or else he couldn’t imagine how exhausted she would be.

“Okay.” Nangong Shulan started to eat. She was genuinely starving—making and frying pancakes while moving around constantly had taken its toll on her, and the breakfast she had earlier had long since been digested.

“My dear, I think we can use those ruffians. Their family situation isn’t good, and it’s not getting better. If we hire them, we can give them work and a salary. Firstly, it’ll provide them with jobs, and second, they might find wives sooner. They’re getting older, and their families must be anxious. We should help them out, don’t you think?” Nangong Shulan suggested to her husband after finishing her meal.

He had also observed the group for some time, and since his wife had brought up the idea, he had no objections. After all, they needed more help, and the ruffians knew how things worked around here.

Can you find some time to visit her and give her some money?” Nangong Shulan thought about her younger daughter, who had been at school for two weeks. Now that their family had started a business, they didn’t want their daughter to struggle too much. If she didn’t come back, they would make time to visit her instead.
