Springtime Farming: A Happy Wife At Home

Chapter 2283: Getting Property Back

Prefect Fu had served as the Prefect of Hangzhou for many years without any wrongdoing. However, his brother-in-law had a notorious reputation for unethical behavior and misdeeds.

He had unlawfully seized others’ property and refused to return it, which was unjustifiable.

Many individuals voluntarily returned the deeds to the few shops that had been sold. Zhang Wenshu dispatched his personnel to reclaim those that had not been returned.

Regardless of whether the shops were returned voluntarily or retrieved through enforcement, the original owners were reimbursed the exact amount they had paid for them.

Initially devastated by their losses, the owners were pleasantly surprised to recover their investments. They were naturally elated and reassured.

Uncle Li Jiu, Uncle Mo, Uncle Qing, Ah Luo, and others found themselves occupied. They spun like tops every day, managing takeovers, inventory checks, rehiring employees, liaising with suppliers, negotiating with buyers, and attending social engagements. They barely had a moment’s rest for at least a month.

Zhao Shu and Taotao were particularly concerned about the perfume factory and the vast flower field. They rushed over promptly to inspect the operations.

The flower field appeared to be in good shape, much to Zhao Shu and Taotao’s relief.

It was known that Prefect Fu’s brother-in-law had taken a liking to this expansive flower field during his visits. He believed it was planted solely for aesthetic admiration and expressed envy. He criticized Zhao Shu for his extravagant lifestyle, questioning why such a large flower field had been planted just for the sake of enjoying flowers!

Despite its lack of refined taste, this vast expanse of flowers did have a certain visual appeal.

His followers, lackeys, and sycophants naturally echoed his sentiments and belittled Zhao Shu.

Originally, Brother-in-law Fu had plans to transform this sea of flowers. He envisioned creating an exquisite garden by adding pathways, pavilions, artificial mountains, and a koi pond…

Adjacent to this sea of flowers lay a tea garden covering thousands of mu, boasting stunning scenery. Transforming this into a villa would have beautifully complemented the surroundings!

Before Brother-in-law Fu could proceed with his plans, someone tipped him off about the true nature of the flower field: it wasn’t just for aesthetics but was actually a source of raw materials for perfume production.

Perfume was a highly valuable commodity, regarded as rare and precious. The revelation that Zhao Shu’s flower field was supplying raw materials for perfume production was met with a wave of realization in the business community. It became apparent that the perfumes supplied by Zhao Shu were not sourced externally but were produced in his own workshop.

Brother-in-law Fu was delighted by this discovery. He eagerly anticipated the workshop starting production to supply him with perfume and generate substantial income.

However, to his dismay, he discovered that not only were skilled workers unavailable, but even the essential tools for perfume production had been relocated or removed from the premises.

Brother-in-law Fu’s anger reached its peak as he berated Zhao Shu and ordered a frantic search of the workshop and manor, yielding no results.

Refusing to give up, he issued another notice offering rewards for information leading to the return of skilled perfume workers or knowledge of their whereabouts. Despite his efforts, the individuals found were only engaged in peripheral tasks and lacked access to the core perfume-making techniques.

Brother-in-law Fu’s frustration grew exponentially. Knowing that a fortune lay within reach but lacking the means to unlock it was maddening beyond measure.
