Reborn as an Ugly Wife in the Countryside

Chapter 1239: Chapter 1241: Both Sides of the Hand Are FleshThe villagers didn’t say it directly, but none of the Yang family members present could fail to understand, and their faces immediately changed. It was the old lady who first spoke up, ”Stop gossiping here, my other sons are doing well enough.”

Although she said that, in her heart she was considering the villagers’ words.

Her other sons, the eldest just makes a living farming, and the only reason they’re a bit better off is because they got a bigger share when the family land was divided.

The third son makes tofu, which is relatively better.

The fourth son also relies on farming, with few people and little land, making life a bit tight.

The fifth son went to his father-in-law’s place, who sells farm tools, so they’re not doing too badly either.

They can all manage to get by, but compared to the second son’s family, who can casually pull out so much silver, it’s really worlds apart.

Looking at the second son’s family now, each one of them is glowing with health, dressed well, eating better, and the children are even sent off to school.

In contrast, she really ought to consider her other sons’ situations; after all, both the palm and the back of the hand are flesh.

Hearing the old lady speak like this, the villagers didn’t say anything more. ”You’re right, no matter what, the Yang family is doing well now. I won’t chatter anymore, there’s still a lot of work at home.”

”Me too, I gotta get back to work, I’m off.”

”...”

”...”

The villagers thus left the Yang family’s doorstep, leaving the entire Yang family behind.

Seeing everyone’s expressions, the old lady scolded angrily, ”What? Don’t you all have work to do? Why are you all just standing here?”

Hearing the old lady’s words, Yang Dazhu was first to speak, ”Everyone should disperse, go do what you need to do, let that boy Yang Wei watch over the second son’s house.”

”Uncle, I’ll watch over the second uncle’s house,” Yang Wei replied immediately.

With that, the group left the Yang family’s doorstep.

...

Yang Dazhu’s house

After sending the old lady back to her room, Yang Dazhu’s wife couldn’t sit still and spoke up, ”Old man, did you hear what the villagers said today? They’re mocking the second son’s family for making their fortune alone, while we’re all poor, and laughing at the second son for not helping us.”

Hearing his wife’s subtle complaints, Yang Dazhu was not pleased, ”What do you want to do, speak plainly! Don’t beat around the bush.”

”I’m not trying to do anything, I just want a better life too, to send our children to school. Why don’t we talk to the second son and see if we can also get involved in something?” suggested Yang Dazhu’s wife.

”When the family land was divided, didn’t you ask for a bigger house? Now seeing them doing well, let me tell you, don’t try anything with the second son, just let it be,” Yang Dazhu said with displeasure.

”Fine, fine, fine, you’re the one with too much pride, let our family die poor then.”

”Let us die poor then.” Yang Dazhu said firmly. Back when things were tough for the second son’s family during the division, he didn’t help at all, and now that they’re doing well, he simply doesn’t have the face to ask for favors. ”Let me tell you, no one is allowed to go to the second son’s house, the children aren’t allowed either, and let me find out, I’ll break your legs.”

”Got it, won’t go, won’t go.” Seeing Yang Dazhu angry, his wife had to give up her little schemes.

She wasn’t unreasonable; she hadn’t said anything about extorting them, just thinking about whether they could do something together, but even that wasn’t allowed.

She had to obediently stop talking about it and see what the other brothers’ families would do.
