Reborn as an Ugly Wife in the Countryside

Chapter 1133: Chapter 1135: Did Your Young Madam Use to Eat Very Little?Li Fugui had imagined countless times the scene of his reunion with Xiaotian, but he never expected such a meeting.

They were like two strangers, unable to recognize each other, causing him immense heartache.

Even though he was mentally prepared, he still couldn’t accept the fact that Xiaotian was already married and pregnant.

Is he really going to separate from her now?

His heart was unwilling!

He truly wanted to act impulsively just once, to take her away regardless, but he couldn’t.

He could only endure and watch her leave.

After confirming the date for the next visit, he spoke, ”Master Guo, Madam Guo, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave now.”

Master Guo nodded and summoned a maid, instructing her to escort Li Fugui out.

Once outside the dining hall, Li Fugui felt like a soulless puppet, following Little Maid back to the kitchen silently.

Upon entering the kitchen, Little Maid said, ”Chef Jiang, after the master and madam have finished eating and made sure there’s no issue, the Guo Mansion will arrange a carriage to send you back. Meanwhile, see if there’s anything you need to instruct in the kitchen.”

Li Fugui nodded. He had no objections to the way these affluent households operated, as it was to be expected, especially since he wasn’t ready to leave yet.

After Little Maid finished speaking, she left, leaving Li Fugui and a few kitchen maids behind.

Seeing Li Fugui return, the kitchen maids began to gossip, ”Chef Jiang, was it nothing serious that the madam called you over?”

”It was nothing, she just rewarded some silver and asked me to come every five days to cook a meal for the young madam,” Li Fugui replied truthfully.

Upon hearing he received a reward, the kitchen maids were envious and acknowledged Chef Jiang’s culinary skills as being recognized by the madam, mainly because the young madam must have eaten more.

”Ah, Chef Jiang, this is a good thing. The young madam must have eaten more of your dishes.”

Earlier, when the kitchen maids were talking, he just smiled and wasn’t interested, but now as they mentioned it again, he was eager to know if she was well, so he asked, ”Did your young madam not eat much before?”

”Well, compared to others who are pregnant, indeed a little less, but the young madam wasn’t exactly eating very little either, just average. It’s just the madam was too anxious, afraid it might affect the child in her belly.”

”In my opinion, the young madam indeed doesn’t enjoy eating; every meal seems as painful as taking medicine, as if she’s forcing it down.”

”But now that you’re here, Chef Jiang, it’s fine. Your cooking skills are excellent, you make a variety of dishes, the young madam shouldn’t have any trouble eating.”

”Oh dear, but coming once every five days is a bit long interval. During those days, if the young madam doesn’t eat what we cook, we’ll get scolded again.”

”Don’t say that, the madam surely knows Chef Jiang is busy, how could he come every day, right, Chef Jiang?”

Li Fugui stood there thinking, why can’t Xiaotian eat? Is she not doing well? Being questioned by everyone brought him back to his senses, ”Ah, yes, I still have to cook in the back kitchen of Yuelai Restaurant, I can’t come every day.”

Li Fugui was eager to know everything about Xiaotian. After pondering it over, he realized he didn’t know anyone in this mansion, so he had to start by probing information from these kitchen maids and make further plans later.
