Reborn as an Ugly Wife in the Countryside

Chapter 1117: Chapter 1119: Dad Doesn’t Want You to Learn MedicineThe commotion from Old Antou’s reaction startled everyone in the room.

An’an was frightened and a bit flustered, but she had made up her mind. Even if she was scolded, she was going to do it. She stood up, walked next to Xue Zhiyi, and looked at her father with a very determined expression, ”Dad, I want to go with him, I want to learn...”

An’an’s words weren’t finished before Old Antou raised his calloused hand angrily, ready to slap An’an’s face, ”You...”

But the slap landed on Xue Zhiyi’s chest.

Xue Zhiyi blocked Old Antou’s slap with his chest.

Seeing this, Old Antou staggered and fell into the chair, unable to believe how quickly his other daughter had also fallen for Xue Zhiyi’s words. Instantly, he seemed much older, muttering, ”Rebellion, rebellion, all of you are rebelling.”

An’an’s eyes welled up; she didn’t expect her father would actually slap someone in anger.

With the atmosphere so tense, it seemed neither An’an nor Xue Zhiyi could persuade Old Antou, so Xiaoxiao spoke up, ”Uncle An, An’an wants to learn medicine. This is a good thing for the benefit of the people; you should support her.”

”What? What did you say?” Old Antou looked at Xiaoxiao in disbelief.

Xiaoxiao continued to persuade, ”Uncle An, I said you should support An’an in learning medicine. It was An’an who helped sew up my son’s foot; she really has a talent for this. You should let her learn, not hold her back.”

An’an knows medicine? An’an sewed Little Liufu’s foot? What in the world is going on?

At the moment, Old Antou was quite confused; he was only thinking about how his daughter absolutely shouldn’t be involved with Xue Zhiyi. His mind was so preoccupied with this that he didn’t listen carefully.

Thinking back to what they said, An’an wants to follow Xue Zhiyi to learn medicine? It’s not what he thought at all?

He looked at Xue Zhiyi and An’an, wanting to hear what they had to say.

Feeling her father’s gaze, An’an spoke in a somewhat tearful voice, ”Dad, I want to learn medicine. Please let me learn.”

At this moment, Xue Zhiyi also spoke up, ”Uncle An, initially, I wasn’t in favor of it either, thinking she’s a girl and better off not learning. But she insisted, saying if I didn’t teach her, she would find another doctor to mentor her. I thought, rather than her learning from someone else, it’s better she learns from me, so I can look after her a bit, and you won’t have to worry.”

Xue Zhiyi paused for a moment, then continued, ”To be honest, An’an truly has a talent for this. Not letting her learn would indeed waste her potential.”

After hearing Xue Zhiyi’s explanation, Old Antou remained silent for a long time.

In his understanding, he felt a girl from a farming family should stay home waiting to get married, then go to her husband’s home to manage household affairs, not go out and make a scene.

Yet Xue Zhiyi’s words made him worried; if he disagreed, but An’an was determined to learn, she might sneak out to learn from someone else, what would he do then?

If she learned from Xue Zhiyi, he’s concerned about another issue — what if his daughter becomes infatuated with Xue Zhiyi again?

No father wants his daughter to be with someone who could be her father.

After much thought, he decided to keep An’an at home, closely monitoring her. So, he spoke, ”An’an, I don’t agree to you learning medicine.”
