Stinging heart

I smiled and looked up at him. I squatted for too long, my feet were numb and my shoulders were sore. I smiled and said, ”This is my job, isn’t it? There is no distinction between men and women in the workplace.”

For a moment, everyone laughed. Jordan was going to take Dominic to see the base construction in the afternoon. According to the plan, it should be intended to let the Cross family also take a piece of the project.

Linda, followed by the two people, explaining some more professional projects from time to time, the two people looked at it like this, it was really a good match!

Seeing several people coming in my direction, I bowed my head and concentrated on my own affairs.

I thought a few people would read it and leave, but Linda suddenly said, ”Grandpa Dominic, after such a long walk, you should also be tired. There is a place to rest here. Let’s go and have a rest. You can also taste the pears here later!”

The old man seems to like the fruit very much, especially the one that has just been picked from the tree.

As soon as he heard what Linda said, the old man was naturally very happy to stay.

So Linda helped Dominic to the lounge, and Jordan looked at me.

I thought he was just taking a simple look, but he suddenly said, ”Secretary Ivelle, please help us pick some fruit at the back of the base.”

I was stupefied, instinctively said, ”I am not very familiar with the road here!”

He raised his eyebrows and said, ”Mr. Preston seems to have said that we need you to cooperate with us as much as possible.”

It sounds harmless, but the implication is that if I don’t go, I won’t cooperate with him.

Seeing this, I nodded, stopped working, and said, ”Okay, then wait a minute!”

After finding a few plastic bags in the base, I left the base. Most of the land in Cape Oaks village is an orchard, so it is not difficult to pick fruit.

Just because it was all dirt, and because it rained heavily last night, and there was some mud, there was a fence outside the orchard, on one hand, for fear of livestock coming in to make trouble, and on the other hand, it was convenient for the fruit farmers here to distinguish between the land of their families.

The fence is surrounded by barbed vines. If you can’t find the entrance, you can easily get stabbed.

I walked around the orchard and saw Timothy followed me. He smiled and said, ”The entrance is on the other side. You have to turn around, but it rained last night and this side is all construction sites. It may not be easy to walk on the road. You have to be careful!”

I nodded and walked in the direction he pointed out, but I did find my way into the orchard.

In August, most of the pears in the yard are ready to eat, but some of them ripen slowly and are not yet ripe.

It tastes a little sour and astringent. If you pick it for the elderly, you should naturally find something ripe and sweet.

Fortunately, it was noon, and there were no drops of water in the fruitful period. When I heard someone chatting, I couldn’t help but stop and listen carefully.

It seems to be Jordan and Linda.

Linda said in a delicate voice, ”Mr. Astley, you really don’t have to follow me. This orchard is not far away. I can just come by myself. Grandpa Dominic is bored to stay alone. You should talk with him.”

Jordan said in a shallow voice, ”It’s all right, the road is slippery, it’s not safe for you to come alone!”

Maybe his words were a little warm, Linda smiled a little, and her eyes overflowed with light.

I was going to leave. After all, staying like this is more or less like a light bulb.

But Jordan suddenly stopped, ”Secretary Ivelle, have you got the fruit?”

I was stupefied. I looked at the empty bag and said with a smile, ”Not yet. Aren’t you picking with Miss Linda? Mr. Dominic shouldn’t want many. I’ll go first!”

”Since we’re all here and it’s so hot, pick a few more and take them back, and let’s eat together, Secretary Ivelle, isn’t it?” Linda opened her mouth, and as she spoke, she deliberately approached Jordan for fear that I might not see the intimacy between the two of them.

I nodded and said calmly, ”Okay, then pick some!”

Even after walking around the orchard, I found a pear tree that looked good and was just the one I could pick.

Linda followed me like a haunted ghost. When she saw that I had picked a few bags, she also picked them, then wiped them in her hand for a long time, took a bite, twisted her face and looked at me, and said, ”It’s so sour, Miss Ivelle. Who will eat it when you picked it? Waste of fruit!”
