Chapter 1212: Chapter 697: Taboo ACE-022, Queen Ant! (Part 3)

”Why do I feel like they’re just timid?” Qing Chen questioned with doubt, ”Didn’t Qin Shuli just say that the Garrison Camp is being besieged? How can such timid cockroaches dare to besiege the Garrison Forces? Or are they too clever and choose their opponents?”

A special unit composed of the Spy Bureau and C-Class, D-Class family members, totaling more than two hundred people, continued to infiltrate the edge of The First District.

Gradually, Qing Chen heard a dense crawling sound, making his scalp tingle.

As they continued, the rustling sound drew nearer. Qing Chen pondered for a moment and then ordered them to climb up a tall building, planning to observe the situation from the rooftop.

From there, they could overlook the Garrison Camp completely, with nothing obscured from view.

Yan Chunmi whispered, ”Boss, if we go up now, be careful not to get surrounded by cockroaches.”

Qing Chen shook his head, ”I have my plans.”

When everyone reached the rooftop, they were all stunned.

The densely packed cockroaches on the ground made everyone’s scalp tingle with discomfort—it was downright disgusting.

Even someone as carefree as Qing Chen felt his heebie-jeebies flaring up.

In the Garrison Camp below, soldiers cautiously hid behind covers, waiting for orders, while beyond the camp’s perimeter was a swarm of cockroaches bustling in and out of shops, very busy indeed.

But the thing was, these cockroaches were just foraging for food and had not attacked the Garrison Camp at all!

Inside the Garrison Camp, there were no refugees and it was clean, with no signs of battle whatsoever.

Qing Chen sighed, thinking it would shelter large numbers of refugees, but now it seems the Garrison Forces were not actually any good, just pawns of politicians.

”Do these cockroaches not eat humans?” Qing Yi was shocked, ”There are only sparse cockroach corpses at the entrance of the Garrison Camp, and it doesn’t look like the main gate has been attacked at all.”

Qing Chen breathed a sigh of relief, ”Indeed, cockroaches naturally like oily sweet foods, and they chew on soap and wires, but they’re not very interested in people. However, when extremely hungry, cockroaches might nibble on animals, though that’s rare.”

Just as he finished speaking, a few cockroaches flew out from a broken window on the 56th floor, flapping their wings towards the ground.

Qing Chen: ”...”

Qing Yi: ”...”

Holy crap, they can actually fly!

If these things get aggressive, they’re fiercer than a rat tide, what kind of defense can stop them!?

Moreover, the thing flying out of the window wasn’t holding flesh, but a piece of red velvet cake...

”Do they truly not harm people?” Qing Yi questioned, ”And yet such a harmless bunch can scare the Garrison Forces into shivering?”

Qing Chen said, ”I encountered Garrison Forces in the Fifth District and was curious how they survived to make it out of The First District alive. Turns out it’s because The First District is cockroach territory, and the rats didn’t invade. Those cockroaches scatter at the sight of Garrison vehicles, making them assume it’s the same with the rat tide, hence they suffered great losses outside The First District.”

No wonder the Garrison Forces survived.

At a certain moment, Qing Chen even felt it was somewhat unfair that those striving hard for a living were caught in the poison circle, while those pampered people were coincidentally ’protected’ by cockroaches.

”I plan to control the cockroaches,” Qing Chen stated.

Originally Qing Chen intended to control the Rat King, using rat swarms as spies and city defense in City No. 10.

But now he changed his mind; compared to mice, flying cockroaches clearly had more strategic value.

Currently, the cockroaches are indeed timid, but those controlled by the Queen Ant wouldn’t be timid. Qing Chen could command them to traverse the wilderness, enter City No. 20 through the sewers, and precisely strike the Jindai Consortium inside City No. 20!

Qing Chen took out a red wooden piece and handed it to Xiao San, ”You, bleed on it.”

”Huh?” Xiao San was startled, ”Head of the family, you’re giving this Taboo to me? To control this swarm of cockroaches?”

”Yes,” Qing Chen nodded.

”Why don’t you control them yourself?” Xiao San asked curiously.

Qing Chen replied, ”I find it a bit disgusting...”

Xiao San: ”???”
