Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 898: Chapter 898: What Kind of Trap Did He Set, After All? At four in the afternoon, Wuqiu City, Dawu Central Hotel.

Lin Yu was sitting on the sofa, furrowing his brows as he browsed through a document.

It was something Gao Peng and Liu Yan had spent two full days and two sleepless nights to complete.

Yet Lin Yu was far from satisfied.

They had only managed to conduct a basic investigation of a company, even after mobilizing resources from Grand Affairs Officer Shen Peisheng, along with various other supports.

It would take at least two more days to completely eliminate them from suspicion.

This was just too slow!

And this was just one company.

There were still four more to go!

If it took four days for one company, getting a clear picture of five companies would take twenty days, nearly three weeks!

The time was too long; Lin Yu felt uneasy about Bai Xiaosheng’s situation.

Shen Peisheng had sent him a report, an analysis concerning Bai Xiaosheng’s performance during the assessments and his handling of the Chen Brothers.

Shen Peisheng had personally commented and made notes on it.

To Shen Peisheng, Bai Xiaosheng was a person of formidable capability, who always managed unexpected and unconventional strategies that took others by surprise!

To ensure a win against Bai Xiaosheng, one had to strike like lightning, crush swiftly, and avoid prolonged confrontation with him.

Otherwise, you would never know what sort of tricks he would play on you next!

Facing such an adversary, sometimes, you wouldn’t even know how you lost!

The more Shen Peisheng valued him, the more Lin Yu wanted to win; the stronger the desire to win, the more he felt the current pace was unbearably slow!

”This is just too slow, we can’t keep going like this!”

After flipping through the report, Lin Yu put it down and looked somewhat dissatisfied at his two assistants sitting opposite.

”Boss, we really did our best,” Gao Peng said sheepishly.

With dark circles under his heavy eyelids, he felt his neck stiff and piercingly sore, perhaps his cervical spine was acting up.

”We’re too short-staffed,” Liu Yan couldn’t help but chime in.

Her situation wasn’t any better.

”This is just the most basic data compilation, and preliminary analysis; only after you guys handle this can I proceed with the final analysis and judgement!”

Lin Yu said, ”So of course the preliminary phase is tough for you, but we can’t add more people. Bai Xiaosheng only has three people on his side. Therefore, we can also only have three! Tell you what, from now on, I will join you guys in the groundwork!”

It had been years since Lin Yu had done the groundwork; this time, he was truly going all out.

It was vital not to increase the staff count, which was a hardship for Gao Peng and Liu Yan, who couldn’t help but grimace. Having more people could have spared them this ordeal.

But Lin Yu insisted on competing with Bai Xiaosheng under the fairest conditions possible.

Although he had utilized resources from his teacher Shen Peisheng, he believed Bai Xiaosheng would also unhesitatingly use resources from people like Li Haofeng and Zheng Honghu, so he found it perfectly justified in this aspect.

As Gao Peng and Liu Yan silently lamented, their doorbell rang.

Gao Peng stood up to answer the door and was surprised to see Dongzi standing outside—the one who had been incommunicado for two days.

”It’s you!” Gao Peng couldn’t help exclaim, ”Did you find something?”

Dongzi smiled confidently, ”Otherwise, why would I be here? What, should I just stand here and talk about it?”

”Please come in!” Gao Peng immediately ushered him in with great enthusiasm.

If Dongzi had made a breakthrough, they might be able to do a lot less work.

Lin Yu had always believed that Bai Xiaosheng, who had personally inquired about Zhang Kai, would discover valuable information, possibly even information Zhang Kai himself was unaware of. Lin Yu believed he could find it too if given the chance. In this respect, he was at a disadvantage.

Therefore, Lin Yu thought hiring a private detective to closely monitor Bai Xiaosheng’s activities wasn’t unfair but rather a way to level the playing field.

His definition of fairness was indeed different from the average person—he judged others by the standard to which he himself could reach once he acknowledged someone.

”It’s you!”

”There’s news!”

Gao Peng led Dongzi inside, and Lin Yu and Liu Yan turned to look at him, both asking concurrently.

The question was exactly the same as before.
