As night fell, darkness replaced light and enveloped the earth, and one by one, lights illuminated Dong hai, known as the Dongfang, making the night alluring.

Under the cover of night, the Sun God Hotel, reputed to be the hardest to book into in Dong hai, shone brightly. The parking lot beneath was filled with cars, mostly mid-range sedans and a few Coaster minibuses.

In terms of price, these cars wouldn’t stand out in Dong hai, let alone in some small county towns, but their license plates and the passes placed on the corners of their windshields were enough to command respect from multimillionaires.

This was why the Four-star Sun God Hotel was called the hardest to book into — it was under the Dong hai Municipal Committee and City Government, specifically used for hosting official guests!

”Ziz—”

At nine o’clock, the latest model Audi A8L came to a halt in front of the Sun God Hotel after an urgent braking, the friction of the tires against the ground screeching sharply.

Hearing the piercing screech and seeing the Audi A8L severely speeding after entering the hotel driveway, the security guard initially wanted to step forward and reprimand, but the sight of the pass in the corner of the windshield made him hastily stop in his tracks.

At the same time, the car door opened, and without waiting for the driver to get out and open the door, a woman in a beige coat pushed open the door herself and stepped out of the car with a stern face, striding toward the hotel.

As she walked, the sound of her high heels striking the ground was crisp, her noble, imposing aura and stern expression making the guards unable to look directly at her.

Not just the guards, but also the hotel’s welcome attendants and the lobby manager, upon seeing the woman enter the lobby, also couldn’t meet her gaze.

”Hello, may I ask if you are staying or ...”

Afterward, out of duty, the lobby manager stepped forward, bowing slightly and asking with a professional smile on his face.

”I’m looking for Bai Guotao.”

The woman uttered five words expressionlessly, scaring the lobby manager into swallowing back the words that had reached his lips!

As the lobby manager, she was well aware that today’s most esteemed guest was Bai Guotao, who had come with a Lingnan business delegation to Dong hai to discuss cooperation between the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta economic zones with the Municipal Committee and City Government!

Under such circumstances, the woman’s blunt use of Bai Guotao’s name was shocking.

”Hello, please show your ID, and after we verify your identity, I will call Secretary Bai’s assistant...” After the shock, the lobby manager struggled a moment, but still chose to proceed by the book.

However—

Before she could finish her sentence, the woman stopped, frowned, and glaring at the lobby manager, coldly spat out a word, ”Scram!”

”Uh...”

A low ”scram” resounded like thunder by the lobby manager’s ear, leaving her petrified and rooted to the spot, too frightened to even breathe heavily.

For instinct and reason told her, someone who dares to directly call Bai Guotao’s name could, with a mere word, have her packed up and rolled out of there!

Later, amidst the lobby manager’s fearful mood and the stunned expressions of other hotel staff around, the lady with a cold face walked toward the elevator.

This time, no one stopped her!

A minute later, the woman reached the hotel’s top floor in the elevator.

”Ding dong—”

Accompanied by a clear sound, the elevator doors opened, and the woman walked out of the elevator with a cold face.

”Madam.”

At the entrance of the luxurious suite, Bai Guotao’s bodyguard and driver, Lin Tong, seeing the woman in a beige coat, first paused, then quickly stepped forward, bowing and greeting her.

”Open the door.”

The woman, treating Lin Tong’s greeting as if it were flatulence, brushed past him, leaving behind a cold statement.

”Yes, Madam!”

Feeling the enormous rage from the woman, Lin Tong didn’t think twice and agreed, then quickly walked to the door of the luxurious suite without asking Bai Guotao and, taking out the room card, placed it on the door sensor.

”Ziz—”

A soft sound issued, the door opened, and the woman entered with an icy face. The room was filled with smoke as if on fire, and a choking smell of smoke billowed towards her.

In the suite’s living room, Bai Guotao sat on the sofa with a grim expression, a cigarette between his fingers, which was half burnt but with white ash clinging on.
