Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Corvine had barely managed to get back into work after Voren’s first call completely ruined any chance of him falling back asleep.

After staring at the ceiling for a while and realizing there was no point in trying to force it, he had given up entirely and headed straight to his home office.

Since he was already wide awake, he figured he might as well make himself useful. A big stack of reports that needed Seraphine’s attention was sitting on his desk, and even though she would go through them herself in the morning, he knew how much she appreciated having everything neatly organized ahead of time.

That was how he ended up sitting in front of his laptop in the middle of the night, sipping on a fresh cup of coffee while sorting through piles of company documents.

The sudden ringing of his phone snapped him out of his focus. Corvine frowned when he saw Voren’s name pop up again. ”Don’t tell me you’ve already come up with another crisis,” he said with clear amusement as he answered the call.

Instead of a normal greeting, Voren’s calm voice came through the line. ”Open up. I’m standing in front of the house.”

Corvine blinked a few times, just staring at his phone in disbelief. He checked the time, then checked it again. A laugh slipped out of him. ”You’re serious.”

The line went dead before he could get any kind of response. Shaking his head, Corvine quickly contacted security to let Voren onto the property and then headed downstairs himself.

By the time he reached the living room, the front door was already swinging open. Voren stepped inside looking way too alert for someone who was supposed to have gone to bed hours earlier.

Corvine crossed his arms, a teasing smile spreading across his face right away. ”I’m surprised.”

Voren raised an eyebrow. ”About what?”

”The almighty Alpha Voren actually needing my help.” The grin grew even wider. ”I should frame this moment and hang it on the wall.”
