Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

That night, Jiang Ruan had a dream...

A swimming pool, soda, and Yan Chi emerged from the water, walking towards her and then touched her face, saying in a raspy voice:

”Ruan Ruan, your face is red.”

When Jiang Ruan woke up, her other roommates were already up washing. They saw her wake and quietly said, ”Ruan Ruan, you talked in your sleep last night.”

Someone had not yet recovered from the embarrassing dream and was startled by the roommate, nervously saying, ”What, what did I say?”

”Just kidding, haha—”

”...”

Jiang Ruan really jumped down from the bed to settle accounts with her, making the dorm lively early in the morning.

”I was just curious. The first-year freshmen’s early morning military training, such a big commotion, how didn’t it wake you up?” the roommate laughed.

Jiang Ruan just snorted as she went to brush her teeth and wash up, recalling that embarrassing dream from last night and feeling her ears warm.

But she didn’t have much time to think about Yan Chi, as she was called by a senior to the auditorium for the freshmen party at nine in the morning. The venue had been arranged a few days prior, with many school leaders attending that night, and the student council was very attentive; even the president was busy early in the morning.

Jiang Ruan was just a screw, not in charge of anything major, but those trivial little tasks were enough to make someone extremely busy.

Her phone vibrated, she glanced at the caller ID, remarks:

[Juanjuan]

Calling her was Qi Zeyan’s son, this nickname was given by Jiang Mutang.

Answering the call, Jiang Ruan was in a fairly good mood, ”Such an early morning on a weekend?”

”Isn’t it close to the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday? The school needs make-up classes.”

”Mm.”

”Are you coming back to Beijing for Mid-Autumn Festival? Want me to pick you up along the way?”

”Your school isn’t near mine, how can it be on the way?” The Little Juanmao from the Qi family wasn’t studying in Beijing; he was academically excellent and was directly admitted to a college in another province after his senior year.

Qi Zeyan believed boys should go out and see the world and didn’t oppose him going elsewhere for education, but kept his daughter close.

”I’m going to Liangguang for a seminar with my teacher soon, and I won’t have much to do afterward, so I can come find you and hang out.”

”Alright then, when you come over, I’ll pick you up.”

”Will you provide meals and drinks?”

”Also accommodation, satisfied?”

Growing up together as childhood friends, naturally, there wasn’t much formality.

...

When Jiang Ruan learned that her childhood sweetheart would be visiting soon, her work was particularly enthusiastic.

However, when she was inexplicably called by a senior, who said the president was looking for her, she was still bewildered, ”President, did you need something?”

”Last time, you went to interview Senior Yan Chi, right?”

”Mm.” Jiang Ruan appeared gentle and docile externally.

”Don’t be nervous, I’ve already watched the interview video; it’s hard work interviewing him.”

”It’s okay.”

”He might come tonight, I’m too busy with many school leaders also coming over. I asked someone to receive him, he said it’s unnecessary, as he isn’t from this campus and has graduated, knowing few people. You’ve just interviewed him, if he comes tonight, please help entertain him.”

”President, I...”

”Is there a problem? Don’t be afraid of him, Senior Yan is really nice. Really!”

”It’s not because of that, I...”

Before Jiang Ruan could say more, the president answered a call and hurriedly left.

Yan Chi possibly coming was known by many in the student council; anyone tasked with it would see it as a great opportunity. If one gets along well with Yan Chi, finding a job in the future might become worry-free. But this person was Yan Chi...

Strange temperament, rarely smiles.

You never know what might offend him.

Seniors and juniors above weren’t willing to do this task, so it was pushed to Jiang Ruan. If it were a good task, it would never reach her.

Jiang Ruan was innocently pushed out.

The freshman orientation party started promptly at 7 PM, with freshmen all seated by 6:30 PM. Just finishing military training, unsurprisingly, they were a bit suntanned, sitting quietly at their seats under the guidance of their instructors, yet they couldn’t hide their inner excitement.
