”Uncle, Aunt, my grandmother just called and wanted to invite you to lunch nearby; it’s not far, just to meet each other. Do you find it convenient?”

”We are all family; if it’s inconvenient for you, we can make arrangements for another time.”

”Actually, my family has met Youyou before, even though not as my girlfriend. When they learned of this, they scolded me and also wanted to provide you an explanation.”

Jiang Shiyi suddenly lowered his stance, putting Lin’s parents in an awkward position.

Last night, monitoring their daughter’s dating, they never imagined they’d jump to the parental meeting stage after one night’s sleep.

Having talked with their daughter, they knew the relationship was serious and probably progressing more deeply than they thought. Their daughter clearly had genuine feelings, so as parents, they naturally hoped she could find her own happiness.

The Jiang Family took the initiative courteously; not attending would potentially make the Jiang Family think they disapproved of the relationship. However, going...

They were unprepared and facing Jiang Family members. They felt uneasy.

Lin Luyou, who had explained everything and clarified it wasn’t Jiang Shiyi’s fault but rather her guilty conscience and nervousness causing the confusion, now looked at her parents, unsure of their thoughts.

Lin’s father took a deep breath, gesturing for Lin Luyou to join him in the room, casting a glance at Jiang Shiyi before leaving, ”Wait here for a moment.”

Lin Luyou was quite worried her father would be angry, yet upon entering the room, he merely asked, ”Youyou, are you serious with him?”

She replied in a muffled voice.

”Do you think he’s reliable? How does he usually treat you? From the way he speaks, you’ve also interacted with his family; how are they?” Lin’s father asked patiently.

”We just wish for your happiness...if you think it’s okay, let’s meet them. It’s not like we’re getting married right away, but getting acquainted.”

The morning’s affair was a misunderstanding. Upon learning Jiang Shiyi arrived late at night out of concern for his daughter, Lin’s father was somewhat appeased; coupled with the Jiang Family’s sincerity, if his daughter was fond of Jiang Shiyi, Lin’s parents didn’t want to complicate matters.

Lin Luyou nodded along.

...

The Jiang Family quickly received the news that the Lin Family agreed. Jiang Zhenhuan arranged a spot at a restaurant near the Lin Family’s neighborhood, and though it wasn’t wedding talk, the matter couldn’t be handled carelessly.

The Jiang Family sprang into action; the old matriarch dragged Tang Wan into the room to help decide what to wear.

Everyone from the Jiang Family was busy, except Jiang Chengsi, who was on a business trip in Nanjiang and was utterly baffled by the situation.

They were having a parental meeting already? He and Si Qingxiao hadn’t even reached this stage. Sure, their families met each other at the birthday banquet, but that was due to circumstances. Jiang Shiyi’s case was genuinely about meeting both sets of parents.

Clearly, he was the one who first exposed the relationship, yet despite not confiding about his romantic endeavors to the family, his brother had somehow overtaken him!

Since meeting parents likely meant marriage wasn’t far off, with Qi Zeyan’s wedding approaching, how did he suddenly become the one lagging behind?

He pondered that he must find a way to regain his footing.

But what happened later continually reminded him:

Your brother will always be your brother. No matter your driving skills, nor how fast you go, he can still tip the scales and overtake you.
