Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

Jiang Chengsi stood blushing at the entrance of Jiang Shiyi’s bedroom, his mind full of scratches and bite marks.

He had automatically imagined a scene of those two locked in intense combat. His brother, with his obsessive cleanliness and compulsive tendencies, actually letting someone leave marks on him—it was truly fantastical.

At that moment, a phone ringing interrupted his thoughts. Jiang Shiyi was tidying up dirty clothes he had changed out of. If it were Jiang Chengsi, he’d have shoved them all into a basket. Not only did he sort the clothes by color, but he also folded them meticulously before answering the call on speaker:

”Hello.”

”Third brother, the team leader has been safely returned to the dormitory, you can rest assured.”

Jiang Chengsi was dumbfounded; this voice sounded like the assistant of Team Leader Lin. Was his brother’s influence already reaching that far?

”How was her mood tonight?”

”Same as usual, but when we got on the car, I mentioned how coincidental it was to see you here, thinking I could say some nice things for you. She told me to shut up, and said things like you never know someone’s true heart, warned me not to be so naive, and said...” The assistant’s voice paused.

”What did she say?” Jiang Shiyi continued folding clothes, making sure both sides were symmetrical.

”She said some people look proper and decent, but are actually cultured scoundrels.”

Jiang Chengsi looked up to the sky speechlessly:

The young lady summarized it well; his brother was indeed like that.

Jiang Chengsi didn’t stay in Jiang Shiyi’s room long before being called downstairs by Grandma for a meeting. Fan Mingyu helped Shen Zhixian bathe and coax Jiangjiang and his siblings to sleep, while Tang Wan went to take care of Jiang Xiaowai. Therefore, in the old mansion’s living room, aside from the elderly woman, it was all men.

”Grandma...” Jiang Chengsi attempted to use his approach for dealing with the Si family, trying to take the initiative.

But as soon as he called out Grandma, she ordered him to be silent.

”No one speak, go to the room one by one, I have matters to discuss, asking each of you in turn.”

Grandma didn’t want to engage in a group play with them; they might have already colluded, so the best approach was to break them one by one.

Asking individually, if someone lied about certain things, it’d be revealed immediately.

Moreover, they had no idea what Grandma would ask, even if Jiang Chengsi tried to secure alibis with them now, it’d be too late. Besides...

At home, no one wanted to cooperate with his act.

Si Qingxiao had just texted him:

”I didn’t expect you to be the family favorite at home?”

It’s all a facade, all fake; what family favorite, he was clearly the family scapegoat.

The matters at the birthday banquet today, Grandma was mostly aware of; she just wanted to know some details or what happened when meeting the parents.

When Jiang Jinsang entered the bedroom, Grandma didn’t ask about anything else; she started directly:

”Xiaowu, what do you think of the Si family’s attitude towards Chengsi?”

”If he wasn’t dating Miss Si, purely from a personality liking standpoint, they have a good impression of fourth brother.”

”You say, if we try to force Chengsi onto the Si family, how should we go about it? You’re known for your crafty ideas, give some advice.”

”...”

A late-night solo conversation seeking opinions from all sides, discussing how to ”attach” fourth brother to the Si family?

”This child Chengsi, looks frivolous on the surface but is actually very responsible and reliable, though probably not the first choice as a son-in-law; this really requires careful planning.”

Jiang Jinsang just nodded without speaking.

”I never thought he’d get entangled with the Si family; I heard this Miss Si is quite adept. She was involved in tonight’s events; do you think Chengsi can handle her?”

Handle her? Grandma was quite trendy.

”He’s both foolish and honest; I really feel a bit worried.”

Jiang Jinsang chuckled, ”You think fourth brother is simple-minded, yet he managed to pursue the Si family’s lady whom all of Beijing are watching.”

”Has he put all his intelligence into dating? And then his money into cars?”

”...”

”Xiaowu, after all, he’s your brother, nearly thirty now, finally making a little splash; what if the Si family wants to return him?”

Jiang Jinsang was unfamiliar with the Si family, even less aware of how far Jiang Chengsi and Si Qingxiao’s relationship had developed, so despite wanting to help, he was powerless.
