Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

In March, the wind in Beijing still carried the chill left over from winter, the sunlight not yet bright and warm. Standing in the shadows, the passing breeze was still a bit cold. Si Qingxiao pulled her clothes tighter and saw a figure walking toward her.

”Miss Si?”

Following the voice, Si Qingxiao looked over and saw the young heir of Mingyu Group.

He’d gone to the Si Family before with You Hongxian, so she recognized him. ”Young Master Lou?”

”I didn’t expect Miss Si would still remember me.” Lou Hao was secretly pleased. ”What a coincidence, I didn’t expect to run into you here. I had some business nearby, and you are...”

”Buying a few things.” Si Qingxiao didn’t believe in this so-called chance encounter at all. She’d just met with You Hongxian yesterday, and today he showed up in front of her—how could it be that coincidental.

”You’re heading out? Didn’t drive? Let me give you a ride.” Lou Hao said bluntly.

”I’m waiting for someone, no need, thank you.”

”A friend?”

Rumor had it she’d gotten herself a boyfriend and still hadn’t brought him home. No one knew which lucky bastard had stepped in shit and hit the jackpot.

Si Qingxiao just smiled and didn’t answer him head-on.

”I heard Madam Si is busy preparing her birthday party lately, you must be swamped. If there’s anything I can help with, just say the word.”

”We’re not familiar with each other. I’d be embarrassed to trouble you.” Si Qingxiao’s refusal was already very straightforward.

But Lou Hao refused to give up and smiled. ”If we see more of each other and hang out more, we’ll naturally get familiar.”

”Your friend still isn’t here?”

”He’s really taking his time. How can he just leave a girl standing here waiting like this?”

...

When Jiang Chengsi drove over, from a distance he could already see Si Qingxiao talking with some man.

A full suit, leather shoes polished to a shine, hair specially combed into a side-parted slick-back. A little farther away there even seemed to be an assistant holding his briefcase for him, the whole posture screaming ”successful elite.”

Is this guy trying to imitate Qi Zeyan or what?

Speaking of Qi Zeyan’s obsession with side-parted slick hair and slicked-back styles, that went back to when he’d just started working. Fresh out of school, still with a bit of baby face, someone wanted to look more mature, so he deliberately dressed up like a grown-up. He even got obsessed with doing his hair, couldn’t step out the door without fiddling with it first.

Slick-backs and side parts were indeed very ”elite” and handsome, and plenty of people in their circle started following his lead with their hair.

Jiang Chengsi frowned:

Who the hell is this? Hitting on her?

When he drove closer, he realized he actually knew the guy!

Back at home he’d heard talk about some engagement alliance between the Si Family and the Lou Family that had sent their stock prices soaring. So of course this guy would know the Si Family.

Jiang Chengsi hadn’t officially met the parents yet, and he couldn’t expose himself in front of this man and show all his cards. He’d been planning to give uncle and auntie a surprise.

So he didn’t get out of the car. He just honked from a short distance away to signal Si Qingxiao, and sent her a text.

”Sorry, my friend is here.”

Before Lou Hao could speak, Si Qingxiao crossed the street and got into the car opposite.

Lou Hao stood where he was, feeling utterly defeated.

His gut told him this had to be that legendary boyfriend of hers!

This car... at most one hundred fifty, one hundred sixty thousand. A guy who drives this kind of car probably doesn’t have much going for him. And someone like that actually managed to win over the Si Family’s young lady?

Was Si Qingxiao tired of feasting on delicacies and just wanted to try some poor boy for a change of taste?

After getting in the car, Si Qingxiao glanced around the interior. ”Whose car is this?”

”A friend’s. Didn’t you say it’s too high-profile to ride the motorbike in the city? The club only has Racing Car, so I borrowed a car from a friend.” Jiang Chengsi turned his head slightly to look at her. ”The one talking to you just now was Lou Hao?”

”You know him?”

”He’s always at my club. We all run in the same circle—who doesn’t know who?”

”From the way you say it, you don’t seem to like him much.”

”All about vanity and reputation. He just puts on a good act in public, that’s all. How did you two meet?”

”My uncle once brought him to our house.”
