Pampered by Short-Lived Bigshot

A short-haired guy popped up from somewhere, staring at Jiang Chengsi, ”Why didn’t your wife come?”

Jiang Chengsi didn’t respond, just happened to join in a race that was about to start; the crowd’s cheers were loud. It seemed only such noise could drown out his inner restlessness.

With the engines purring, everyone was ready to go.

At the sound of the starting whistle, Jiang Chengsi’s car shot out first, the surrounding cheers incessant. Jiang Chengsi deftly controlled the steering wheel, whether controlling the speed or drifting around corners, mechanically, as if trying to vent something.

The few racing against him first noticed something unusual.

They all knew Jiang Chengsi was good at driving, but usually playing cars was just for fun, not a professional race. His car never speeds this fast; in a blink, he had left all others far behind.

When his car appeared in sight, the onlookers were stunned.

”What’s going on? Just over 18 minutes, that record is amazing.”

”What happened to Master Si tonight? Starting off so fierce?”

”Master Si is indeed impressive.”

...

Amid the cheers, Jiang Chengsi finished a lap but suddenly felt somewhat lonely when everyone came to congratulate him.

There was a sense of being out of sync with the surrounding excitement.

At that moment, his phone vibrated; it was the small family group. Jiang Yanting had taken the kids to a place where fireworks could be set off, sending back a few pictures.

Tang Wan was the first to speak: [Once our and fifth brother’s kids are older, we can join you.]

In another group, Qi Zeyan also shared a photo.

A picture of the New Year’s Eve dinner, the Ruan Family with just four people, had made more than a dozen dishes, filling the table. You could tell from the picture that it was lively too.

Never had a New Year made Jiang Chengsi feel so lonely and uncomfortable, even racing couldn’t fill the void inside.

His phone vibrated again, a message, from that ”Miss Xiao”:

[Happy New Year’s Eve]

Along with a rather cute picture.

Guandong Si Family

There were just three people in their family, having just finished the New Year’s Eve dinner, sitting together watching the Spring Festival Gala. She sent a message to Jiang Chengsi, waiting a long time without a reply, frowning slightly.

Guessing he might still be eating.

About five or six minutes later, the phone buzzed, and a message popped up:

[Wanna watch fireworks?]

She glanced at her parents from the corner of her eye; they were discussing the Spring Festival Gala, saying it wasn’t as good as before.

”Dad, Mom...”

”What’s up?” You Yunzhi looked at her, ”Do you find it boring?”

”I want to go out for a bit.”

”By yourself?”

”With a friend.”

The Si family wasn’t ignorant; ever since she brought back a rose, they understood she had something going on outside. Going out to meet someone like this on New Year’s Eve clearly showed an unusual relationship.

Mr. Si naturally wasn’t too keen; during New Year’s, the family should stay up together. But You Yunzhi spoke up, ”Where are you going? Should we have the driver take you?”

”No need, I’m just going upstairs to change clothes first.”

Jiang Chengsi leaned against the car and only after receiving the message did he drive to East City.

Leaving a group of people slightly bewildered, confused about what just happened. He just raced a lap, everyone was hyped, so why did he leave?
