Capítulo 995: Chapter 591: When a Woman Stops Loving, Her Heart Turns Ruthless—Using Jiangjiang as a Test Run for Raising a Child? (Part 2)

Ruan Mengxi felt she might have really drunk too much. It wasn’t until the voice above her head sounded again that her whole body stiffened.

“Can you stand on your own?”

Her back was pressed tightly against his chest, hard and warm, and as he spoke, his breath mixed with the scent of alcohol blew from the side behind her, settling into her neck…

It was both tingling and itchy, and warm.

His hand was still resting on her waist, and she was wearing a red dress today. The material wasn’t too thin, yet the heat from his palm still seemed to seep through, bit by bit.

“I… I can.” Ruan Mengxi stammered, steadying herself against the wall, trying to keep some distance from him, but the hand on her waist hadn’t loosened.

She had again drunk too much, plus his chest was radiating scorching heat.

Her legs went weak…

And she stumbled back into his arms.

Qi Zeyan hadn’t loosened his hand, mainly because he saw her wobbling and feared she’d fall again, but hadn’t expected she’d stumble back.

With that knock—

His heart trembled fiercely.

It felt as if something was gripping it tightly, suddenly making his breath feel a bit stifled.

The main issue was that Ruan Mengxi accidentally stepped on his shoe—

That really hurt!

She was indeed drunk. No matter how slow she was, feeling something hard against her high heels should register. Qi Zeyan took a deep breath; not only did his heart ache, his foot hurt too.

Clearly, she’d drunk too much, not knowing her own strength!

“Sorry.” Ruan Mengxi steadied herself against the wall, stumbled up, turned to look at him, “Boss, why are you here?”

“Didn’t you invite me?”

Ruan Mengxi lowered her head at the shoe print on his leather shoe, only feeling a pounding headache. No one knew better than she how much he cared about the cleanliness of his shoes. “So… sorry! I didn’t do it on purpose…”

She bowed her head, wanting to apologize to him, but as soon as her head lowered, she swayed, bumping her forehead into his chest, causing his heart to throb with pain again.

This woman…

“I’m sorry.” Ruan Mengxi felt she was too embarrassing, hurriedly pulled away, almost tumbling backward.

At that moment, however, someone came out of the private room, surprised to see Qi Zeyan, and immediately signaled to colleagues inside, then “invited” him in.

Everyone was drinking heartily. When Qi Zeyan suddenly came, it was inevitable to feel a bit restrained.

“Don’t mind me, just feel free.”

The boss said that, but employees didn’t dare indeed feel free. They invited him to sit at the top seat, then began to offer him drinks.

No one dared to urge him to drink; they let him take it casually. However, he’d already drunk one round at Jiang Chengsi’s place. This counted as the second round, and he quickly felt the intoxication.

…

Since it was Ruan Mengxi’s farewell party, many people gave her gifts. She was hosting tonight, thanking everyone for their care, so she needed to settle the bill and was the last to leave.

Since Qi Zeyan arrived, she hadn’t touched her glass, washed her face outside, and felt much clearer.

When she returned after settling the bill, noticing that there were unopened, not cheap drinks, she planned to take them home, only then discovering that Qi Zeyan and Xiaozhu hadn’t left.

Xiaozhu had already drunk too much and couldn’t take care of Qi Zeyan, leaving him to Ruan Mengxi in the end.

“Boss?” Ruan Mengxi furrowed her brow. “Shall I call a designated driver to take you home?”

“Not going home.” Qi Zeyan knew he’d drunk too much. Going home would surely lead to being scolded by the old man there.

“Then get up first.”

Qi Zeyan instinctively reached out to grab her arm.

After all, though she didn’t accompany him to social events in the past, whenever he and Xiaozhu drank too much, Ruan Mengxi would help out. Generally, she was the one supporting him.

But reaching out and not even grabbing her, she had already turned to leave.

He frowned. The alcohol intensified his headache.

Just three minutes later, two male hotel staff came, each holding him on either side, helping him into the car.

Ruan Mengxi called for a designated driver and got in the car herself, directly taking him home.

Throwing him onto the sofa, greeted the old man Qi, and left gracefully.

“You little brat, where did you drink so much alcohol!” The old man Qi, wearing an overcoat, looked at him, headache looming.
