”Plan to find a time to register our marriage.”

”Register your marriage?” Shen’s father paused with his chopstick in hand, his voice suddenly sharp—

He broke into a shrill tone.

”Why are you so excited? These two kids are already engaged, it wasn’t easy to get the marriage report approved, registering the marriage is normal.” The old lady took it in stride, ”When do you plan to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau?”

”We haven’t decided yet, we need to get your consent.” Shen Shuci, seeing the responses from her parents weren’t too intense, felt her nerves relax a bit.

”You must dress beautifully on the day of registration, or else the photos won’t look good, the best thing would be to wear white shirts, both of you in matching outfits, that would look great.” The old lady chuckled.

Shen’s father felt that registering their marriage was a bit quick, but according to his observations, their relationship undoubtedly went beyond just holding hands and kissing.

He estimated that they had done everything, appropriate or not.

The end goal of registering their marriage was to provide security for Shen Shuci and show that Huo Qinqi genuinely wanted to marry her.

The old man, though he grumbled, handed over the household registration book to Shen Shuci after dinner from the drawer.

...

The Shen family elders, wanting to invite guests the next day, naturally needed Tang Yunxian’s help to inform the invitees.

When Jiang Jinsang received the call from his father-in-law, his voice was originally filled with mirth, but after hanging up, Tang Wan noticed his expression wasn’t quite right.

”Why did my dad call?”

”He said that grandpa wants to host a dinner tomorrow night and invites us to join.”

”Then why the long face?”

”Father’s attitude towards me is a bit strange.”

”Hmm?”

”He was cheerful during the day, but when he called just now, he was rather cold.”

”Aren’t you overthinking? There’s no good reason for my dad to give you the cold shoulder.” Tang Wan laughed, ”Maybe he’s just been too tired recently, don’t read too much into it.”

Jiang Jinsang kept silent, little did he know it had something to do with Huo Qinqi.

Just look at others, they know to inform their parents before registering the marriage, then look at our son-in-law, who ”stole” the household registration book while another quietly eloped and registered with his daughter.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt like other people’s son-in-law were better.

But since so much time had passed and they even have a child, he had no reason to make trouble or harbor hidden agenda, although his tone remained somewhat chilly.

Jiang Jinsang wouldn’t have expected that Huo Qinqi’s registration could impact him like this.

Meanwhile, on Shen Shuci’s side, after obtaining the household registration book, she informed Huo Qinqi and also told him about tomorrow’s dinner invite from his parents.

Huo Qinqi, being naturally decisive and to avoid unnecessary delays, directly said:

”There’s no time like the present, why not go tomorrow?”

”Tomorrow...” Shen Shuci thought that the company didn’t have much going on the next day, so she agreed.

Shen’s father immediately had some regrets about handing over the household registration book, just thinking about them registering the marriage and his daughter joining another family’s registration made him sigh leaning on the bed, but he hadn’t expected Shen Shuci to knock on his door with another bombshell.

”We’re planning to register our marriage tomorrow.”

Shen’s father pulled the blanket over his head, ”I’m tired, I want to sleep.”

The old lady was very pleased and enthusiastically pulled Shen Shuci to her room, organizing what she should wear to look nice while registering the marriage.

Shen Shuci still thought about sharing the news with Tang Wan, Ruan Mengxi, and others, as it was also considered a happy occasion.

But the old lady stopped her.

”Since we’ll all be dining together tomorrow, it’s better to announce the good news then.”

Shen Shuci nodded in agreement.

Shen’s father lay in bed thinking that having a child register their marriage was a good thing, but he couldn’t shake this lingering heaviness, unaware that even heavier news awaited.
