Chapter 719: 447 Old Lady Wants to Play Matchmaker? On the Cultivation of the Crooked Neck Tree (2 More Updates)_3”I just can’t wait to send her a red envelope, so she can change her calligraphy.”

”I understand,” Jiang Jinsang nodded, ”The main thing was that I wanted to check if the child had inherited anything...”

”Everyone understands.” It was probably fear of a problematic test result, the child might not be kept, so telling the family members in advance would certainly upset everyone with the gains and losses.

”Mom, there’s something I want to ask you.”

”What is it? You’re still being so formal with me, just speak your mind.”

”You and Aunt Huo must be very familiar with each other, right?”

”Of course, whenever she comes back to the capital, we always meet up. What about it?” Fan Mingyu asked, not understanding the point.

”Does she have any connection to the Liang Family?”

Fan Mingyu put down the bowl she was holding and thought back carefully, ”It seems that besides sharing the same surname, there’s no connection. That Liang Wenzhong has been begging all over for a collaboration. If the Liang Family were close to the Huo Family, with a powerful backer, why would he have to go begging like that?”

”These years, there hasn’t been any interaction between the two families during weddings or funerals; how could there be any relationship?” Fan Mingyu laughed.

”There are many people in the country with the same surname; are you overthinking it?”

Jiang Jinsang just smiled, ”I’m just asking; I’ll take the soup up now.”

Considering the elder Liang’s rush to the Huo Family, coinciding with Huo Qinqi’s mother’s surname being Liang; he couldn’t help but think more about it.

”Wanwan was terribly frightened today; tell her not to go to work. I’m moving into the old house lately to help nourish her back to health.”

”I know.”

...

The Jiang Family had not made Tang Wan’s pregnancy public, and despite persistent questioning from the media, the police haven’t revealed much detail, so the outside world only knew that Liang Han had injured her. However, the Liang Family, being privy to the information, was at its wits’ end.

They were sitting at home, discussing with a lawyer about what should be done.

”...Young Master Liang’s case, he took banned substances, so there’s no doubt he’ll be detained,” the lawyer explained thoroughly, ”There’s no escaping that charge; we can only plead for leniency based on his acknowledgment of guilt and hope for a lighter sentence from the judge.”

”We understand that,” the elder Liang said, his face ashen with rage after being turned away from the Huo Family and having such an unworthy descendant, he was so angry he had trouble breathing.

”The main issue is with Mrs. Jiang’s case. I’ve heard the opposing lawyer might push for murder, accusing Young Master Liang of intentional homicide.”

”He wasn’t in his right mind at the time, how can it be intentional murder?” Mrs. Liang became anxious upon hearing this.

”There were no security cameras at the scene, but there’s a witness. Her testimony is quite crucial. Reportedly, she saw Young Master Liang pressing down on Mrs. Jiang with a syringe, attempting to harm her, so...”

”The key lies with this witness?” Liang Wenzhong frowned.

The lawyer nodded, ”If she testifies that Young Master Liang was influenced by drugs at the time, or if the situation was that there was no argument and it was just an accidental injury, Young Master Liang could be sentenced to many fewer years.”

The difference between accidental injury and murder was significant.

Prison was inevitable, it was just a question of how many years.

”Who is this witness?”

”Although the police are keeping it secret, there are many eyes and ears at the hospital. I’ve found out for you, but I think the likelihood of the witness changing her testimony is very small.” Lawyers need to be fully prepared for battle.

”Is she a doctor or a nurse? We should talk to her, we have to try.”

The Liang Family clung to their only heir; they had to try every possible slim chance.

”Not medical personnel,” the lawyer stated bluntly, ”She is a relative of the victim, Mrs. Jiang’s aunt, so the chances she will change her testimony are slim to none.”

The Liang Family’s expressions changed in an instant.

The elder Liang felt dizzy and short of breath, clutching his chest and taking Heart-saving Pills before he could take deep breaths, ”Such a tragedy, such a grievance... this is fate!”
