“It was a prior arrangement with that colleague, so…” Shen Shuci had been tempted at the time and had agreed before she remembered that Xi Fangli would be coming to Beijing.

“Okay, have a seat,” Xi Fangli said with a smile. “I heard you found a job at a foreign company? How do you feel about it?”

“It’s alright. I’m still in the probation period; it’ll get better after I become official.”

After some small talk, Xi Fangli suddenly changed the subject. He mentioned that a young man on his team was from Beijing who was also responsible for part of the current exhibition work and had just come back from overseas. He suggested they could get to know each other…

He said it very casually, just as if he was talking about making a common friend, but everyone nowadays is not naive.

The old lady was also unaware of the plan in advance, simply seeing that Xi Fangli brought someone over and considering that Shen Shuci was to come, she probably guessed what was going on.

As for her, she didn’t intervene, just sitting on the side, sipping tea and watching.

“You’re both newly back in the country; it’s good to go out and wander when you’re free.” Xi Fangli’s intention was already very clear.

Shen Shuci glanced at Tang Wan sitting beside her, who was peeling and eating a sugared tangerine, quietly moved away, and swiftly sat next to the old lady in a rather sneaky manner…

“Young people, after all, should go out and explore,” Xi Fangli said with a smile, giving the man beside him a wink.

“Miss Shen, my name is Yu Wei.”

“Shen Shuci.”

Both had never experienced this kind of situation and were inevitably a bit restrained and awkward.

Before Shen Shuci arrived, Tang Wan had actually learned a bit about the situation. Since Xi Fangli was introducing them, this Yu Wei might not be exceptionally good-looking, but he stood out as excellent among his peers. However, if they didn’t take a liking to each other, there was nothing to be done.

At this moment, Tang Wan hardly dared to look Shen Shuci in the eyes, her gaze piercing as if she were ready to eat her alive.

“Grandma, here’s a tangerine for you.” Tang Wan peeled a sugared tangerine and handed it to her. The old lady had diabetes and could only eat a little. She leaned close to Tang Wan and whispered, “This young man is not bad at all.”

Tang Wan smiled without saying a word. Xi Fangli was quite choosy, and indeed, Yu Wei seemed quite good.

The old lady would not interfere in such matters and definitely wouldn’t instigate anything, but she also hoped that the younger generation would marry soon. She was pleased to see it happening, sitting there with a cheerful smile…

Just when the atmosphere was becoming awkward, the sound of a car came from outside.

“Probably Xiaowu returning,” the old lady said with a laugh.

“I’ll go and see,” said Tang Wan, and she went out the door. The sound of the car relieved some of the tension in the living room.

When Tang Wan went out, she saw Huo Qinqi also getting out of the car, “Big Brother Huo.”

“Mm,” Huo Qinqi nodded slightly toward her, his usual cool detachment.

“Have Master and Auntie already arrived?” Jiang Jinsang naturally noticed the cars parked in the courtyard.

“The ‘matchmaking’ has already started; just came out to give you a heads up.”

“I know.”

It was Huo Qinqi who walked by the side, slightly frowning and asking softly, “What matchmaking?”

“Master is introducing a suitor to Auntie; they’re meeting in the living room right now.”

People from the Huo Family inwardly cursed:

Damn!

After the group entered the house and Huo Qinqi arrived, there were introductions and polite chat again. This time the focus was Shen Shuci’s “matchmaking,” and “less important” people had to stand aside.

Shen Shuci, who was already embarrassed, didn’t expect to encounter Huo Qinqi. He and Jiang Jinsang were sitting a bit further away, but she had a feeling…

He seemed to be staring at her the whole time!

Xi Fangli originally thought that with acquaintances present, meeting and chatting would be no different from normal talk, so it shouldn’t be awkward. However, for Shen Shuci…

It was her first time “being matched,” and to be watched by a crowd, Shen Shuci really wished she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

Huo Qinqi had just sat down, eyeing her with a concentrated look, and there was another arrangement… matchmaking?
