Chapter 501: 320 Luring the Snake out of Its Hole, Jiang Family Father and Son’s Bizarre Aesthetics (2 Updates)_2

Some people are afraid of wounds being torn open, of blood pouring out and of this family falling apart, while others are filled with guilt and fear…

“Yongqi, do you want to go back and rest?” Du Jinglan looked at her husband.

“No need.”

“You haven’t eaten anything for almost a day. If this continues, even if father doesn’t wake up, your body will collapse.”

“I’m fine. Let the kids go back and rest,” Xie Yongqi said, looking toward Xie Duo and Xie Tongtong.

“Mom and Tongtong can go back. I’ll stay here with Dad and take care of things.” Xie Duo naturally couldn’t leave.

After some argument, no one wanted to leave, and Du Jinglan could only sigh, “Then I’ll go out to buy some food. At least eat a little.”

Du Jinglan left the inpatient department and then, with trembling fingers, took out her cellphone…

Meanwhile, in another ward,

all the visitors had left. Taotao sat on the bed, head lowered, too afraid to speak, while Jiangjiang sat on the other side. They were both so nervous about the trouble they had caused and the lies they had told that they dared not speak.

Jiang Yanting went home to fetch some fresh clothes for Taotao, and Shen Zhixian sat at the head of the bed, peeling an apple.

She peeled it, cut it into pieces, removed the seeds, and handed them to the two children.

“I don’t want to eat,” Taotao said nervously.

“What about Jiangjiang?” Shen Zhixian asked.

He shook his head too.

“Mom…” Taotao said, plucking up courage, “I was wrong. Please don’t blame Uncle Xiaosi; I asked him to take me there.”

“How many times have you gone?” Shen Zhixian couldn’t believe her usually gentle and obedient daughter would lie.

Taotao counted on her fingers, ran out of fingers, and turned Shen Zhixian’s face a shade paler with anger.

“Mom, I really know I was wrong.”

Taotao, biting her little mouth and already injured, put on a pitiful face and acted spoiled.

Parents’ hearts are soft and they can’t bear to see their children like this, but Shen Zhixian had to harden her heart.

“Do you know that playing with cars is very dangerous, and you should not lie to me? Taotao, haven’t I always told you that good children don’t lie?”

“I’m a bad child,” Taotao said, biting her tooth, pitiful to the extreme.

Shen Zhixian was about to speak again when Jiangjiang, who had been standing beside her without her knowing, tugged at her clothes, “I was involved in this too. You asked me to take care of my sister, and I didn’t do a good job. If you want to blame someone, blame me.”

“I’m an incompetent brother.”

“I shouldn’t have played dangerous things with my sister or lied with her.”

Taotao had always thought that Jiangjiang was a little fool. Why was he stepping in now?

It would have been fine to blame her alone; after all, in her mind, Shen Zhixian was Jiangjiang’s “stepmother” and would never get angry at him. Why did he have to step in!

“Jiangjiang…” Shen Zhixian was truly shocked, “This time I really…”

“You are still young, maybe you don’t realize how dangerous it was. What if something terrible happened, what would your father and I do? Have you thought about that?”

“I’ve only just…” Shen Zhixian’s fingers slightly tightened, “Doing this, I really…”

Shen Zhixian resented not being able to spank them, but seeing how frightened they were, she felt both anger and heartache.

“Mom…” Jiangjiang suddenly called her quietly.

His voice was very soft, like the faint buzzing of a mosquito.

Shen Zhixian stiffened, her eyes instantly reddened, and tears welled up uncontrollably. Clutching Jiangjiang’s shoulders, her voice trembled, “What did you just call me…?”

“If you didn’t hear, never mind,” Jiangjiang said, hanging his head in silence.

Shen Zhixian felt at a loss, suddenly unsure what to do.

After Jiang Yanting returned, he knew that Shen Zhixian would surely discipline the children. He thought they would cry because of their guilt and fear of her scolding, but when he got back…

It was Shen Zhixian who was crying, tearing up and wiping tears continuously.

“What’s wrong? Jiangjiang!” Jiang Yanting looked at his son, who had been mischievous since childhood and spoiled rotten, “Did you make her cry?”

“No, he didn’t upset me, we’re good, don’t scold the child for no reason!” Shen Zhixian immediately interrupted him, somewhat reproachful.

Jiang Yanting was bewildered:

Before, Shen Zhixian had sworn to flay the hides off the two children, yet now she was protecting them?
